GENERAL INFORMATION<br />

b. In the event of a Non-life Threatening/Nuisance/Harassment call to your line you should contact your First<br />

Sergeant with time and dates of receiving the call and any other helpful information you can gather about the call.<br />

The local security forces, Office of Special Investigations, and Staff Judge Advocate will request the call trace<br />

through the 18 CS Call Trace desk (634-7777) and receive the results obtained.<br />

c. Active Life Threatening Calls: Call the Security Police Law Enforcement Desk by dialing 911.<br />

7. MINIMIZE<br />

MINIMIZE is a condition were normal telephone traffic is drastically reduced to avoid delaying messages connected<br />

with an actual or simulated emergency. When MINIMIZE is in effect, switchboard operators will challenge all originating<br />

calls in the following manner: "MINIMIZE is in effect. Only vital calls will be accepted. Is this a vital call?" If an<br />

affirmative reply is received, the call will be completed. Otherwise, the caller will be requested to reinitiate the call after<br />

the MINIMIZE is lifted.<br />

8. RECEIVER OFF-HOOK<br />

Receivers left off hook with the intent to busy the line more than three times during any 60-day period could lead to<br />

phone disconnect.<br />

9. TAMPERING WITH GOVERNMENT OWNED TELEPHONE EQUIPMENT<br />

Telephone instruments, associated wiring and other telephone items will not be moved, connected, disconnected, or otherwise<br />

tampered with by personnel other than those specifically assigned to do such work. Tampering or misuse of government<br />

telephone equipment is sufficient cause for issuance of a statement of charges and termination of telephone service.<br />

10. OBTAINING OFFICIAL TELEPHONE SERVICE<br />

Requests for official telephone service will be submitted in accordance with established policies and procedures of the<br />

requesting activity's supporting Communications Telephone Office (See AFI 33-111). Unit communications officers are<br />

advised to coordinate their official telephone service requirements with their supporting telephone office prior to accomplishing<br />

any telephone installation work orders. Official service requests must be validated by the responsible telephone<br />

control officers or appropriate authority, located as follows:<br />
