International Telephone service for official military business is available for areas NOT served by DSN. Only calls with<br />

the proper authorization will be booked through the following switchboards. Contact your Telephone Control Officer<br />

for a control number.<br />

4. SECURITY<br />

Telephone communications facilities are subject to monitoring to determine operational efficiency and proper usage of<br />

the system. The U.S.F.J. <strong>Okinawa</strong> with DSN administrative telephone system is not secure. Classified information is not<br />

to be discussed via this system unless using secure telephones.<br />

5. BOMB THREAT<br />

Subscribers receiving bomb threat calls are requested to do the following:<br />

a. Immediately dial “911” and notify the Security/Military Police, using a different telephone if possible.<br />

b. Try to ascertain the sex, accent, age, attitude and background noise through conversation with the caller. Use an<br />

AF IMT 440 if available.<br />

6. OBSCENE CALLS/MALICIOUS CALL HOLD (MCH)/CALL TRACE POLICY AND CAPABILITY<br />

a. Call trace capabilities for bomb threat or nuisance calls are greatly enhanced if the customer uses the telephone’s<br />

Malicious Call Hold (MCH) feature during the call.<br />

(1) While caller is on the line, momentarily depress the hook switch (dial tone), and then dial *57. MCH is<br />

activated when the caller returns to the line.<br />

(2) After MCH is activated, continue asking caller questions. Dial 911 from another phone if possible, or use<br />

your phone if the caller hangs up.<br />
