SPORTS 38 WWW.NBGONG.NET medals in the men and women 1500m and 3000m races. A budding talent that has to be looked out is Janet Amponsah who has qualified to represent Ghana at the World Athletics Junior Championship in Spain. She represented Ghana at the 13th IAAF World Junior Championships in Moncton, Canada, participating in the 200m (24.86s). Later that year with 24.37s in Abuja she took a bronze medal in the 200m final of the Maiden Edition of the ECOWAS Games In 2010, she ran with a time of 11.94s at the Commonwealth Games; she also ran the last leg of the 4x100m women's relay and was able to snatch a 2nd place (from India, the host team) for a precious silver medal (45.24s) The amateur boxing team, the Black Bombers also managed to secure four tickets for the Olympics following a rather daunting qualifier in Casablanca, Morocco with inadequate preparations as usual. Sulemanu Tetteh - Light Fly (49Kg), Duke Akuetteh Micah - Fly (52Kg), Isaac Kojo Dogboe - Bantam (56Kg) Maxwell Amponsah - Heavy (91Kg) will represent Ghana on the canvas at the Olympics in London later this year. Athletics, judo, taekwondo, boxing will surely give Ghana some hope with medals after the rather short preparations and we here at NEIGHBOURHOOD GONG wish the team and athletes the best of luck and Godspeed at the event.
