Well, you can blame me. In my last article, I guess I was pushing for spring just a
little too much. It’s March 20 th , the first day of spring. It’s snowing and about 29 degrees.
C’mon Al where’s the “global warming”? I was hoping to have the boat uncovered
by mid-April.
Over the last month, Rebecca and I have represented Bay View at North Cape
Yacht Club’s Ball honoring Commodore Doug Jordan and Lady Barbara on February
23rd, and Ford Yacht Club’s Ball honoring Commodore Jack Wood and Lady Jo
on March 2nd. We had an excellent time at both events. We had the weekend of
March 9 and 10 off and actually spent some time at the Club. On March 16 th we attended
a wine tasting fund raiser for a fellow “13”er at MRYC and the next day,
March 17 th , it was back to Ford for the Commodore, Vice Commodore spaghetti
dinner. Being Irish, I made a huge personal sacrifice. There was no green beer and
“not even a wee shot o the Jameson’s”, but we had a great time. By the way, Past
Commodore Don, I kept a lot of the “orange string” and I have a plan involving your
boat, this spring.
The seawall project will be winding down and soon it will be the Club’s turn to
finish the project. I know the electrical, landscaping/yard and water committees
among others will be needing help. Please volunteer. The remodel of the south shore
pavilion has been approved and we will need help on this project also.
Vice Commodore Mark has been busy interviewing new members and has been
taking and posting pictures of all the new members. Great idea, Mark! What Mark
hasn’t mentioned is that he has “face recognition” software in his phone with a direct
connection to BCI. (just kiddin’….I think)
Rear Commodore Colleen has some fun stuff planned for April but why does the
Chicken Paprikash dinner have to be on a “ball night” (Save some leftovers for me.)
Fleet Captain, (P/C), Gregg has been hard at work planning the upcoming cruises
and has posted some of them on the board at the Club.
The Commodore’s Ball is April 20 th and the invitations are out. The Ball Committee
has worked hard to make this a memorable event. Remember, this event is a
celebration of Bay View Yacht Club’s members, it’s history and future.
Lastly, on March 8 th , we lost a wonderful member, Past Commodore Dave Wagner.
Dave personified kindness and patience and even with his health problems exuded
a certain strength and tenacity in life. I know he is among his peers and our
prayers go out to Lady Donna and his family.

Report from the Vice Commodore
The calendar says it spring, not quite feeling it yet. It won’t be long before we see a boat or
two in the lagoon.
Last month I made it on the casino bus trip up to Greek town, had a really good time as I
think all did. For $35 it a pretty good deal. You get $20.00 in casino play, don’t have to
drive and we had a mystery stop at Monroe Boat Club which put out a big welcome for us.
Great job to everyone that helped put it together and I’m looking forward to it next year.
Toledo Yacht Club had their Back to the Bay party in March, what a blast. All three floors
were packed, the place was a rocking. A lot of people gearing up for the summer months
ahead..
Membership changes: we have three new members joining us this month: David Krell,
Don Collins and Dave Erdmam. Also Charles Jennings is returning to active from social.
Next time you see them give them a Bay View welcome. On the down side we had 2 members
resign last month and with great sadness we lost P/C Dave Wagner. I didn’t know Dave
real well, but what I did know was every time I saw him he had a big smile and a friendly hello, he will be greatly
missed at Bay View.
As of right now our membership is maintaining right around 230 active. That’s about 45 members short of full membership;
think about that in work hours. A lot less of us doing a lot more. Take a look around if you know anybody
that would make a good member bring them out to the club next time were having an event. The initiation discount
program for family and AYC members is still in effect , help get the word out.

Report from the Rear Commodore
First I would like to Thank the BVYC members once again for
coming together and showing what a great family we are and
how we support one of our own. The wake for Dave Wagner
couldn’t have gone any better.
Thank you to everyone that set up, tore down—set up food,
served the food and cleaned up.
There are way too many to mention so JUST A GREAT BIG

Spring is here—well maybe not in the air but it is officially here. How many Robins
have you seen?
Soon the yard will be busy getting boats ready and flowers will be in bloom and
we will all be in shorts and flip flops.

Report from the Fleet Captain
BING BONG! This is your fleet captain speaking. With spring just around the corner I
thought I would update everyone on cruising plans for this season. So please read on.
JUNE 1ST. Five club Poker run
JUNE 28th.,29th. Kelly's Island at Seaway Marina
JULY 4th.,5th.,6th.Pier 11 Cedar Point Marina
AUG. 2nd.,3rd. Port Clinton Yacht Club This is also the weekend for arts & crafts in the park
SEPT. 13th.,14th. Maumee Bay state park Marina
OCT. 5th. Annual color cruise
Sign up sheets will be posted on the fleet captains board at the club. At this time I'm Still trying
to come up with a date for a MBIYC cruise.
Hope to see everyone soon out in the boat yard getting ready to cruise. Lets all hope Woody
will be kind to us at the gas dock this season.

Report from the Auxiliary
Save the Dates !
The next Auxiliary meeting is on Wednesday, April 10 th . The Board meeting
will be at 7:30 P.M. followed by the General meeting at 8:00 P.M.
As part of the Auxiliary’s philanthropic endeavors, we purchased a flag
from the “Wounded Warrior Project”. It will be displayed at the Commodore’s
Ball and then proudly flown at Bay View.
Also the Auxiliary movie night will be at the Valentine theatre Friday April
26th. Look for a flyer in the April Bay Views

Special Announcements
Children and spouse of a member in good standing for at least 1 year. Amount of initiation $0.00,
this offer will be in effect from 02/13/13 until 02/13/14
Family (Brother, Sister and Parents. Including in-laws) of a member in good standing for at least 1
year. Amount of initiation $200.00, this offer will in effect from 02/13/13 until 08/13/13
AYC members. (A current AYC member in good standing for at least 1 year ) amount of initiation
$200.00, this offer will be in effect from 02/13/13 until 05/13/13
There will be no combining of discounts.
This offer can be modified or terminated by the membership at a regular meeting.
