MARCH 25TH - Toledo Yacht Club – Opening of the Port “South of the Border Party” Fund Raiser MARCH 27TH - Toledo Sail Club - Opening of the Port meeting. MARCH 3OTH - I-LYA Spring Meeting – another sharing, caring, good friends, food, fun, & dancing! MARCH 31st - 2:30 PM Sat. Elba-Mar Boat Club rolls into BVYC on two buses – 80 visitors strong. Thanks you food suppliers and bridge officers & ladies for sharing in this event. 6:00 PM BVYC – Surprise 50 th B-day party for Dave Platin and Blue Gavel Keno Night. Commodore Don Rogers won and rang the bell for drinks for everyone!!! APRIL 1 - CHILDREN'S EASTER PARTY – about 40 children searching for many, many eggs lead by the Easter Bunny! Thank you to all who answered Lady Judi's call for help! A fun & entertaining day of arts & crafts, cookie decorating, and a very special Magic Show by famous team of Dave & Austin Patlin. Thanks to Bill & Lola for pictures with the Easter Bunny(A very Good Looking Bunny, per the Commodore)! APRIL 11 - REGULAR MEETING APRIL 14 - Wyandotte Yacht Club's Commodore Ball honoring Commodore Al Gaillargeon and Lady Vivan Gebsdadt. Another Spectacular event with good friends. APRIL 18 - BOARD MEETING APRIL 21 - BAY VIEW YACHT CLUB'S 2012 COMMODORE'S BALL – “THE BEST,MOST MEMORABLE, PERFECT, SPECTACULAR DAY”! Goodnight Dick Clark and Thanks for the Great Memories! Continued - Report from the Commodore Commodore Don Rogers Report from the Vice Commodore Finally, May and the boating season begins. Boats are uncovered, the yard is active and the docks are filling. It’s a great time of year. Vice Commodore Michael Walsh On March 24 th , Rebecca and I attended the Harbor View Yacht Club Ball honoring Commodore Frank Thomas and Lady Angie. We had a wonderful evening and now I can officially say that yes “I drank with Frank.” The next day we were up early as we had to go to Toledo Yacht Club to set up for the Opening of the Port, South of the Border Party. It was a long day, especially after the “drank” with Frank the previous evening. But we had a lot of fun and there was a good crowd. We even had to make a “GFS” run for more food. I want thank to all of the BVYC members who came and supported this event. The next weekend we hosted the incoming Elba Mar bus trip. I really had a great time with our friends from up north, catching up with so many people that I had not seen for several years. Again, I want thank all of the members who came out to the Club to welcome them. Later that evening P/C Rick Wagner and the Blue Gavel hosted a “Keno” night and if that wasn’t enough, Laurie Patlin had a surprise birthday party for Dave who tuned the BIG 50. Your AARP card is in the mail, Dave. Enough about the fun I‘ve been having and down to business. Last month we did have three resignations. They are: Thomas Makowski Kirk Lahey George “Ron” Hamblin We do have one new application from John Lovas. He has had his first reading and has been interviewed and will be voted on at the April 25 th meeting. I believe he will be an asset to the Club. The Constitution change that had appeared in the Bay Views was passed at the last meeting. I believe this will be a good tool to use when we need to increase our membership. Lastly, the 2013 Ball committee will be preparing food for the “Five Club Poker Run” June 2 nd . We have a meeting planned and will finalize what we will be serving. There will be plenty of fliers at the Club once a decision has been made. Gotta sign off, time to get ready for Commodore Don and Lady Judi’s Ball, tonight .The Vice Verses, Michael Walsh

There is a lot of activity in the yard as everyone is getting their boats ready - wax on, wax off..... The kids had a great time at the Easter party, thanks to everyone that helped out. Maybe next year, a few more eggs? Laurie and I attended Commodore Don Rogers and Lady Judi's Ball. It was a wonderful evening and well attended. The Ball committee did amazing job! Upcoming events: Margaritaville is May 12 th . This year it’s being hosted by Phil and Vicky King, we hope to see everyone come out for this Club favorite. 2nd Annual Beer Fest is May 18th. Beer tasting, food and entertainment. Great party last year, we will continue the tradition this year! On Friday, May 25th is our Steak and Shrimp Dinner to kick off the Opening of the Port. Any Grill Masters out there? Signup sheets are at the club if you would like to help out with this or any of these events. Five Club Poker Run is Saturday, June 2nd AYC Golf Outing is on Sunday, June 3rd Friday, June 8 th Cookout….with a twist (One and done) Greetings, Report from the Fleet Captain I offer many thanks to the officers and members who came out to the club to greet our guests from Elba Mar Boat Club on Saturday, 3/31. I was told that they were well taken care of and had a great time. Unfortunately, Sharon & I were unable be present to help as we were attending the I-LYA Spring meeting as the BVYC delegate. Regarding I-LYA news, I encourage Smart Phone users who visit Put-In-Bay to check out the PIB app which has QR code on the I-LYA home page at www.i-lya.org. Separately, the dates are set for the Junior Sail, Senior Sail and Power Boat regattas; the Power Boat Regatta schedule is available on the website and is posted on the Fleet Captain bulletin board in the club. Registration may be done on-line this year. Sign-up sheets are posted for the Kelleys Island, Ford Yacht Club, Cedar Point, Middle Bass Island Yacht Club and Maumee Bay State Park cruises. If you sign-up for the Cedar Point, MBIYC and/or MBSP cruises please carefully read the “fine print” on the sign-up sheets; these destinations require advance deposits. The Cedar Point docks will be held until June 16, 2012. The Maumee Bay State Park docks will be held until July 16, 2012.
