<strong>the</strong> neighbor<strong>in</strong>g ru<strong>in</strong>ed church of St. Anne) were, <strong>the</strong>y have<br />

furnished a complete picture of <strong>the</strong> appearance of a Jewish<br />

town of <strong>the</strong> Seleucidan times, with its gates, streets, open<br />

places and houses. It also became evident, from a clear<strong>in</strong>g<br />
