4CE06 GEOTECHNICAL ENGINEERING – I-LAB<br />
PRACTICALS :-<br />
Based on above syllabus, following ten practical are required to be formed and a laboratory<br />
report be submitted by vevery student. Practical examination will be viva based on above<br />
syllabus.<br />
EXPERIMENTS :-<br />
1. Determination of specific gravity of soil solids by Pyconometer,<br />
density bottle.<br />
2. Determination of moisture content by ovendrying method.<br />
3. Determination of field density of the soil by sand replacement / core<br />
cutter method.<br />
4. Determination of grain size distribution by mechanical sieve analysis.<br />
5. Determination f Atterbergs limits (LL, PL and SL)<br />
6. Determinatin of Compaction properties (Standard Proctor Test)<br />
7. Determination of permeability of falling head test<br />
8. Determination of shear strength parameters by direct shear test<br />
9. Determination of unconfined compressive strength of soil.<br />
10. Determination of shear strength parameters by Triaxial of UU type<br />
11. C.B.R. test.<br />

1.To determine the shear strength by conducting Field Vane shear test.<br />
2. To identify the subsoil strata by conducting soil resistivity / seismic refractivity method<br />
3. To determine the bearing capacity of soil by conducting standard penetration test<br />
4. To determine the soil characteristic by conducting standard penetration test<br />
5. To determine the soil properties by conducting the static cone penetration test.<br />
6. Computation of bearing capacity by analytical approach to verity with field test<br />
