Del Duque is a masked Mexican wrestler and freelance<br />
detective. Every Del Duque adventure starts with our hero<br />
enjoying a meal in some exotic locale while reading the<br />
newspaper. There’s always an unsolved crime in the news,<br />
and the headline always hints at the action to come<br />
(“Thieves dressed as ninja steal art treasures!”).<br />
After a short investigation during which Del Duque<br />
inevitably stumbles onto clues that the police missed, he<br />
impresses the cops by identifying the culprits as evil masters<br />
of an obscure fighting style. He follows the trail to the<br />
criminals’ lair, sneaks in, and uses a drop kick to jump the<br />
sentry. Within seconds, the rest of the gangsters come<br />
charging in and also suffer defeat. Then the boss appears<br />
and hits Del Duque a few times – but Del Duque soon<br />
catches his fist, twists his arm, and uses his trademark<br />
“pain grip” to force surrender. By the time the police<br />
arrive, Del Duque is tying up the bad guys.<br />
Del Duque lives in a B-movie world where everybody<br />
speaks Spanish, nobody thinks it’s odd that he’s constantly<br />
masked (or asks how he eats with a mask on), and a<br />
lone wrestler is more capable than an entire police force.<br />
He doesn’t seem all that fast or skilled, yet he always wins.<br />
He’s definitely a cinematic hero!<br />
Del Duque stands only 5’11” but must weigh at least<br />
300 lbs. He was inspired by the Crimefighter template<br />
(pp. 32-34), and mixes Combat Wrestling (pp. 204-205)<br />
with Professional Wrestling (p. 206).<br />
