Lavatory Waste Release Response Report March 19, 2013
CLEAN-UP OVERSIGHT
While Mr. Ball was conducting the visual assessment of the outfalls, EEC inspector Rebecca Sydnor,
mobilized and arrived at the spill location near the US Airways Maintenance Hangar at approximately 2:00pm
to observe the clean-up effort. At the time of arrival, Jerry Haws, with the Facilities and Services Division,
was onsite and strategically parked to prevent vehicles from driving through the spilled material. At
approximately 2:15pm, personnel from Landside Services arrived to clean the contaminated surfaces.
Personnel applied a rubber mat over the storm drain to prevent water from entering the drain and power
washed the pavement moving away from the drain to prevent ponding on the inlet structure.
The area was disinfected using a liquid bleach solution, then power washed again (see photo below).

At approximately 2:20pm a sweeper truck drove over the impacted areas with spray water on and
swept/vacuumed up accumulated water. After the water was removed, personnel removed the rubber mat
and swept over the storm drain grate with spray water off to remove any debris on the surface of the inlet
(see below).
