For VOC analysis, samples were collected using disposable Terra Core® samplers and methanol extraction
kits provided by the laboratory. To reduce the potential for cross-contamination and possible inaccurate
results, the sampling equipment was decontaminated prior to inception of sampling activities. Sampling
equipment was decontaminated between each use through a staged, triple rinse procedure. A Chain-of-
Custody record was developed on-site prior to submittal of samples to the analytical laboratory to document
proper Chain-of-Custody activities and correct sample handling procedures.
Waste Sampling - Four Corners collected one composite sample of representative materials from the
impacted soils stockpile from a minimum of eight locations. The composite sample, Sample 12087-WS-01,
of impacted soils for disposal was collected in a decontaminated glass jar provided by the laboratory and
were submitted to an analytical laboratory for waste characterization analysis as follows.
• EPA Method 8260B (Volatile Organic Compounds)
• EPA Method 6010B/7471A (Total 8 RCRA Metals)
• EPA Method 8310 (Polynuclear Aromatic Hydrocarbons)
• ADEQ Method 8015AZ R.1 (Total Petroleum Hydrocarbons)
The waste soil sample collected for VOC analysis were not composited. The sample was collected from
an area of soil with the greatest fuel odor or a representative location of the stockpile as determined by
field personnel.
To reduce the potential for cross-contamination and possible inaccurate results, the sampling equipment
was decontaminated prior to inception of sampling activities. Sampling equipment was decontaminated
between each use through a staged, triple rinse procedure. A Chain-of-Custody record was developed onsite
prior to submittal of the samples to the analytical laboratory to document proper Chain-of-Custody
activities and correct sample handling procedures.
ANALYTICAL RESULTS
The laboratory analytical reports for soil sampling activities are provided in Attachment B, Laboratory
Reports and Chain-of-Custody Forms. The analytical results are summarized in Tables 1 through 4
included in Attachment C, Tables.
