Large fuel spill from Air Canada aircraft.<br />

Jet A vented from left wingtip of aircraft<br />

N250WN.<br />

Approximately 1 quart of diesel fuel was<br />

released to soil due to a part malfunction on a<br />

Banicki Cat excavator.<br />

O-315 responded and contacted<br />

Landside Maintenance for cleanup.<br />

O-30 and O-315 responded and<br />

cleaned the spill with 9 pigs.<br />

Banicki applied absorbent to the area<br />

and called COPAD Environmental to<br />

alert them of the spill. Once the<br />

excavator was fixed and moved out of<br />

the way, the contaminated soil was<br />

over-excavated and both the<br />

contaminated soil and remaining soil<br />

in the area were sampled. The soil<br />

was over-excavted to ensure the<br />

confirmation soil sample would come<br />

back clean.The excavation was about<br />

5 feet long 2 feet wide and 2 to 2.5<br />

feet deep.<br />
