Small fuel spill created by overflow from<br />

aircraft.<br />

Fuel was reported to be flowing out of a<br />

manhole and pooling in a large area. Echo-12<br />

estimated the fuel spill to be in excess of 100<br />

gallons.<br />

US Airways reported a small and slow leak<br />

from a fuel pumping cart (P-04).<br />

Swissport 9,500 gallon Jet A fuel tanker hit a<br />

cement pylon causing the tank to rupture and<br />

spill 100+ gallons of fuel (40 x 10 ft).<br />

A small Ford truck that was leaking gas. No<br />

owner was able to be located, Vehicle<br />

relocated to the impound lot.<br />

F3 and Operations responded to a<br />

small fuel spill. Fire was cancelled and<br />

spill cleaned up by Service Air.<br />

Southwest conducted cleanup and<br />

disposed of material.<br />

Multiple fire units responded and IMS<br />

was initiated for a major fuel spill.<br />

Swissport was immediately notified<br />

and they closed the valve five minutes<br />

after the first report. Representatives<br />

from environmental were notified.<br />

Cleanup was initiated and was<br />

completed at approximately 0130.<br />

Responding emergency units: X67,<br />

X684, X685, BC19, SQ19, AT19, E29,<br />

SQ8, C957S, E277, SI272, BC2,<br />

C957N, L11, LT11.<br />

Swissport after-hours maintenance<br />

was notified and they responded.<br />

Operations responded to oversee<br />

proper handling and cleanup. The cart<br />

was redtagged.<br />

PD completed an Aviation Accident<br />

report. Responding units from PD and<br />

Fire were: X67, X621, X631, X62,<br />

Squad 8, Battalion Cheif 19, Engine<br />

19, and Foam 3. The fuel flow was<br />

stopped and the vehicle was relocated<br />

to fuel storage area for de-fueling.<br />

Clean up was completed of the fuel,<br />

and there was no exposure to storm<br />

drains.<br />
