Alert III on on a Piper Meridian, N5365D. Cutter<br />

Aviation assisted with draining the left wing fuel<br />

tank. That side of aircraft was leaking fuel.<br />

Airfield Maintenance responded to recover<br />

spilled fuel and contaminated soil.<br />

During fueling of southwest aircraft the over<br />

flow valve on cart failed to shut off the flow of<br />

the fuel causing overlow onto the ramp.<br />

Undertermined amount entered the storm<br />

drain.<br />

A22. O-336, O-344 and O-313 responding.<br />

FOAM 3 and I responded to the Alaska<br />

Airlines’ report of a fuel spill continually to vent<br />

from the right wing of a 737 (N769AS), spill is<br />

being contained. Aircraft mechanic advised<br />

that while conducting a check on the aircraft<br />

sump tank a seal failed to close which allowed<br />

the flow of JET-A. Approx. five gallons spilled<br />

on the concrete ramp. Valve was reset but leak<br />

continued with a small drip. COP A Jet<br />

Fuel/Hazardous<br />

1-2 gallons of waste spilled from the lav cart<br />

onto the apron.<br />

Airfield Maintenance also called to<br />

assist with clean-up. Spill Bill initiated,<br />

NOV issued to driver since this was<br />

the second of such spills with the<br />

same vehicle. FOAM 3 responded as<br />

a precautionary measure.<br />

Landside Maintenance MIC 27 (M.<br />

Hernandez) and crew responded to<br />

assist with the clean-up. Once the<br />

area was cleaned the Alaska Airlines’<br />

mechanic transferred the remaining<br />

fuel (7, 200 lbs) from the right wing<br />

tank to the center tank.<br />

Facilities maintenance responded for<br />

cleanup and Operations completed<br />

documentation.<br />
