Part 8 – Sector-Specific Requirements for Industrial Activity
Subpart AD – Sector AD – Stormwater Discharges Designated by the Director as Requiring
Permits.
The permittee shall comply with Part 8 sector-specific requirements associated with the facility’s primary
industrial activity and any co-located industrial activities, as defined in Appendix A. The sector-specific
requirements apply to those areas of the facility where those sector-specific activities occur. These
sector-specific requirements are in addition to any requirements specified elsewhere in this permit.
8.AD.1 Covered Stormwater Discharges.
Sector AD is used to provide permit coverage for facilities designated by the Director as needing a
stormwater permit, and any discharges of stormwater associated with industrial activity that do not meet
the description of an industrial activity covered by Sectors A-AC.
8.AD.1.1 Eligibility for Permit Coverage. Because this sector is primarily intended for use by discharges
designated by the Director as needing a stormwater permit (which is an atypical circumstance),
and the facility may or may not normally be discharging stormwater associated with industrial
activity, the permittee shall obtain the Director’s written permission to use this permit prior to
submitting an NOI. An operator, who is authorized to use this permit, shall also be required to
ensure that the facility’s discharges meet the basic eligibility provisions of this permit at Part 1.1.
8.AD.2 Sector-Specific Benchmarks and Effluent Limits. (See also Part 6.)
The Director shall establish any additional monitoring and reporting requirements for the facility prior to
authorizing an operator to be covered by this permit. Any additional monitoring requirements shall be
based on the nature of activities at the facility and its stormwater discharges.
