AUXILIARY FLEET NEWS
This year the Auxiliary is hosting
the Labor Day Picnic. It is a great
finale to our summer season. Everyone’s
help makes it a success. Our Down Bay
Race is scheduled for Sept. 19. We had a
record number of participants last year
and hope to top that number in September.
The raft up after the race is one of
the highlights. Be part of this Great
MRYC Tradition.
I will be posting a sign-up sheet
on the bulletin board of the clubhouse and
at the pool, for the Labor Day picnic.
Please let me know if you have a particular
interest. We hope to have record
participation for these three events.
The Coast Guard Auxiliary is
willing to safety inspect your boat. They
could do as many boats as we wanted on
a specific date, and time. There is no
cost, very little anxiety, and at best informative.
Please let me know if you have
any interest. Rick Eytel has had his boat
inspected and said it was a worthwhile
experience.
Derivation: Pipe Down. Naval ships orders
are given by notes piped on a whistle.
“Pipe down” is the last pipe of the
day. The term is also used to when you
want someone to stop talking.
