The MRYC/MCYC Challenge Cup Regatta will be sailed on an ocean course off the Manasquan Inlet Sunday, June 22. The event, intended to foster local offshore racing, includes a dockside post race party at Manasquan. A Cat Fleet – The Barnegat Bay A Cat Fleet will kick off the 2008 sailing season with the Wanamaker Weekend, June 13 - 15 The biennial weighing of the fleet will take place at DeRouvilles’ boat yard on the afternoon of the 13 and a cocktail party will follow across the river at the Island Heights YC. The big cats will compete for the Wanamaker Trophy in a three race series starting at noon Saturday, June 14 on the Toms <strong>River</strong>. A postrace dinner dance is planned at Island Heights. Sunday, June 15 will see the A Cat Women’s World Championship at 10 am. J/24s – The US National Championship will come to the NY/NJ Metropolitan area when the Richmond County <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> in Staten Island hosts the event from May 15- 18. The regatta, to be sailed in New York’s lower harbor, is expected attract 70 boats from across the United States as well as international entries. The 2008 event will also be a celebration of the 30 anniversary of the J/24 Class. The 2008 J/24 Parkway Series will continue on May 24-25 with Raritan YC’s Memorial Day Regatta and Cape May Corinthian’s Dead Crab Regatta June 14- 15. PHRF Mid-Atlantic – PHRF Mid- Atlantic and the New Jersey Racing Conference have announced their schedule for the 2008 sailing year.
