<strong>Club</strong> PHRF – The Commodore of Manasquan<br />
<strong>River</strong> <strong>Yacht</strong> <strong>Club</strong> has issued a<br />
friendly challenge to <strong>Metedeconk</strong> <strong>River</strong>’s<br />
PHRF fleet to compete for a new perpetual<br />
trophy to be awarded by the host club.<br />
The MRYC/MCYC Challenge Cup Regatta<br />
will be sailed on an ocean course off<br />
the Manasquan Inlet Sunday, June 22.<br />
The event, intended to foster local offshore<br />
racing, includes a dockside post<br />
race party at Manasquan.<br />
A Cat Fleet – The Barnegat Bay A Cat<br />
Fleet will kick off the 2008 sailing season<br />
with the Wanamaker Weekend, June 13 -<br />
15 The biennial weighing of the fleet will<br />
take place at DeRouvilles’ boat yard on<br />
the afternoon of the 13 and a cocktail<br />
party will follow across the river at the<br />
Island Heights YC. The big cats will<br />
compete for the Wanamaker Trophy in a<br />
three race series starting at noon Saturday,<br />
June 14 on the Toms <strong>River</strong>. A postrace<br />
dinner dance is planned at Island<br />
Heights. Sunday, June 15 will see the A<br />
Cat Women’s World Championship at<br />
10 am.<br />
J/24s – The US National Championship<br />
will come to the NY/NJ Metropolitan<br />
area when the Richmond County <strong>Yacht</strong><br />
<strong>Club</strong> in Staten Island hosts the event<br />
from May 15- 18. The regatta, to be<br />
sailed in New York’s lower harbor, is<br />
expected attract 70 boats from across the<br />
United States as well as international entries.<br />
The 2008 event will also be a celebration<br />
of the 30 anniversary of the J/24<br />
Class. The 2008 J/24 Parkway Series will<br />
continue on May 24-25 with Raritan YC’s<br />
Memorial Day Regatta and Cape May<br />
Corinthian’s Dead Crab Regatta June 14-<br />
15.<br />
PHRF Mid-Atlantic – PHRF Mid-<br />
Atlantic and the New Jersey Racing Conference<br />
have announced their schedule for<br />
the 2008 sailing year. The season opens<br />
with Keyport YC’s Leukemia Cup June<br />
