Astor Home for Children,
a premier provider of
children’s mental health
services, for example,
serves over 6,000 children
and their families at 21
different facilities spread
throughout the Hudson
Valley and the Bronx.
Its original residential
treatment home was
established in 1953 to
reduce children’s need for
psychiatric hospitalization.
Outpatient mental health
clinics, case management,
early intervention and Head
Start programs have been
added, enabling most of
the emotionally disturbed
children it treats to remain
in their own homes.
