The Ushering Committee is in need of
ushers for the following dates in 2011:
Tuesday, April 19 – Pesah;
Wednesday, April 20 – Pesah;
Monday, April 25 – Pesah;
Tuesday, April 26 – Pesah
(Yizkor service);
Wednesday, June 8 – Shavuot;
Thursday, June 9 – Shavuot (Yizkor).

through the synagogue office.
Beth Tikvah Friendship Group would like to
wish everyone a very happy and healthy
New Year. We are looking forward to a
great season and want to invite all to attend
our programs. On Jan. 20th we showed a
DVD of RIVERDANCE, a wonderful performance
of the best segments of the past 10
years. If you did not attend you missed a
great show. Feb. 17th is our next program.
However, we have not picked a topic as yet.
On March 17th we have booked Susan
Jackson, who will be speaking to us on how
Beth Tikvah is seeking qualified
volunteers to fill positions on two
key committees.
AUDIT COMMITTEE:
The audit committee is responsible for
overseeing the accounting and financial
processes of the Synagogue; including
reviewing and discussing the annual
financial statements with the auditors
and the board, and overseeing the
appointment and performance of the
external auditors.
We are seeking individuals with appropriate
qualifications and professional
designations (CA, CGA) who have
experience in auditing. Knowledge of,
or experience with charitable organizations
is desirable but not necessary.
INVESTMENT COMMITTEE:
This is a new committee to help
oversee the investment of Beth Tikvah’s
various funds. The Committee will
review the performance of outside
investment managers acting on behalf of
Friendship Group

best to communicate with our grandchildren
in this age of technology. She is really a fantastic
speaker and I hope that we will have a
good turnout from members and non members
alike.

Beth Tikvah and make recommendations
on the selection of or changes in
investment managers. Periodically, the
Committee may also review the asset
allocation of the Beth Tikvah funds in
the context of the broader economic
and financial environment and
contribute to decisions affecting risk
and return. It should be emphasized
that it is not the intention for the
Investment Committee to micromanage
the Synagogue’s portfolio.
We are seeking individuals with experience
in portfolio management and asset
allocation. Individuals with experience
in assessing and/or directing external
fund managers would be an advantage.

SHABBAT AFTERNOONS AT BETH TIKVAH
The ritual committee has approved a motion to temporarily abridge services on
Shabbat afternoons. Over several months, they will be evaluating the success of the
revised schedule. The congregation will continue the practice of serving seudah
shlishit (the third meal) between Minha and Maariv, but will no longer offer a lengthy
study at that time. The proposal will significantly shorten the commitment required
for coming to synagogue on Shabbat afternoon. This calendar in this issue of Hakol
reflects the revised service times.
