YOUR HELP IS URGENTLY NEEDED to find a stem cell match for David Geneen who has been diagnosed with a pre-leukemia blood
disease called Myedlodysplasic syndrome (MDS), a chronic and eventually fatal disease. He is in an urgent need of a bone marrow
transplant to ensure that he can be around for his wife Linda and kids Daniel (22) and Julian (17) Geneen. Holy Blossom is hosting a
stem cell registry drive on Sunday March 25 from 12 to 4 pm at Holy Blossom Synagogue, 1950 Bathurst street just south of Eglinton
We encourage you to come by, meet David and Lucy and register for the stem cell registry. It is a quick and painless cheek swab that
may mean the gift of life for David, and many others in his situation. A perfect match would be someone between the ages 17-50 of
Jewish descent. To learn more, please visit the facebook page at: http://www.facebook.com/pages/David-Geneen-Bone-Marrow-
RABBI GROVER’S TORAH ON TOUR
LIGHTING AND LEARNING
Among the prescriptions related to the Menorah, which stood in the Holy Temple, was the injunction that the lights of the
Menorah stay kindled throughout the night. The sages comment that even though the summer nights were longer than the winter
nights, the same amount of oil was always used. But, why?
According to most opinions, this special rule was not just about making simple the daily Temple routine. Rabbi Moshe Feinstein,
of blessed memory, taught that each element of the Menorah's rules was related to proper educational practice.
It is a common error to devote more time to weaker students and less time to stronger ones. We make the assumption that our time
and effort is best utilized giving grease to the "squeaky wheel." The lighting was an every day reminder that all of us need good
guidance and good teachers in our lives, no matter what we think we already know and already understand. Not only that, but you
might even be surprised by who you can learn from!
