Majestic Theatre - Pomona<br />

Built in 1921 the theatre was originally known as the<br />

Majestic Hall and catered for all types <strong>of</strong> community<br />

events. The “travelling picture show man” was an<br />

early<br />

visitor, then in 1923 a cinema licence was obtained<br />

and <strong>film</strong>s have been screened regularly ever since.<br />

Then in 1973, Ron and Mandy West came to town,<br />

they bought the theatre the following year. In 1987, the<br />

Wests reverted to screening only silent <strong>film</strong>s, with Ron<br />

accompanying on the organ. The Majestic has gained<br />

recognition as the world’s only authentic silent picture<br />

house still in full operation.<br />

The convention program is being developed and some features will be outlined in the next<br />

FAMM Convention Newsletter in a few weeks.<br />
