The Autumn issue was another great read, all 44 pages, there must have been an article that informed all of us how to solve the problems that we constantly meet. You would have noticed that there are two new FAMM Directors. I welcome aboard Mark Tunningley from the Southern N.S.W. Division & Barry Schrapel from the S.A. Division & look forward to working with them over the next twelve months. "To survive we must adapt to change" with the appropriate sub heading "We need younger people" ---- these are words from the last edition of AF&V that ring very true and if we fail to heed these words it is at our club's peril. FAMM can assist clubs to encourage new strategies to increase membership BUT at the end of the day it is the clubs who MUST accept change.... OR.... decline. So many people have put forward so many good ideas to revitalise our clubs that we must take some of these ideas on board & persevere until some measure of success is reached. All clubs have now received Convention Newsletter 092 notifying the change in dates to the 17th May 2010 for the Australis Noosa Lakes Resort Convention. A great program is in the process of being put together, it is a great venue & Editor Gary will enthuse you all with his report after his visit recently. The highlight of the Convention will be the presentation of the Federation Shield to the club with the highest aggregate score for their three top movies. Newcastle Video Makers are the present custodians of the shield....now ... is your club the next custodian for the period from 2010 until the following Convention in 2012? Rules & conditions are contained in By-Law #2 (all clubs have a copy), entry forms will be available very shortly. As usual the light-hearted start to the Convention will be the screening of the One Minute movies and a new competition for a thirty second promo which can be in any genre. It is MOST IMPORTANT that members give thought to the election of a President at the Convention as I will be retiring as your President, after eight years it is time for a fresh face at the helm. Preferably the new President should come from a Division other than Queensland. The "job" has many challenges but is very rewarding, the friendships made through contact with all the clubs is an added bonus. As stated at a previous Convention the positions of Secretary & Treasurer should/must come from the same Division as the President of the day, this also means that a new Secretary & Treasurer must be appointed, other office bearers need not necessarily change. A period of adequate assistance will be given to any nominee prior to the Convention if necessary. Let's meet again in 2010... to make movies, rekindle old friendships and make new friends.
