Scope and Description of the Journal
Cogency is an international journal devoted to research and scholarship in reasoning
and argumentation. The journal seeks to be a source of reference which
elucidates our understanding of these fields of study. It aims is to contribute both
at a theoretical and a practical level, taking into account perspectives originating
in psychology, philosophy, linguistics, formal and informal logic, rhetoric, critical
thinking, amongst others disciplines and angles. Cogency publishes articles and
book reviews.
Guidelines for Authors (Papers):
General:
Languages: English or Spanish.
Abstracts: English and Spanish.
Format: MLA STYLE.
Manuscripts submitted to Cogency should not be under consideration elsewhere.
Because the identity of authors is concealed from reviewers (due to the process of
blind peer reviewing), each manuscript should come with a separate title page
containing (1) a title, (2) author name(s), (3) the author’s full address, including
telephone number, fax number, and e-mail. The author’s identity should not be
revealed elsewhere in the manuscript. The title should be repeated on the first
page of the text. The manuscript will be evaluated by two reviewers. If the reports
are contradictory a third reviewer will be asked to evaluate the manuscript. Once
the paper is accepted to be published, all the rights will be reserved by Diego
Portales University.
