We’re starting off bigger this year… Live Auction Items LA 1. Professor Ostrow would like to host four students at her home in Great Neck for dinner. LA 2. Professor Joffe is offering lunch for three students at a kosher Asian vegetarian. restaurant. LA 3. Professor Burke will host six students for a cocktail-and-carry-out party at her apartment in the city. They will order food, mix their own drinks, and listen to whatever playlist she happens to come up with for the night. LA 4. “Bulls, Bears, and Brunch.” Four students will enjoy brunch at a fine Long Island eatery with Professor Colesanti, who has taught Securities Regulation at Hofstra since 2002. Topics will range from the Dodd-Frank Reform Act of 2010 to the origination of the Cobb Salad. Brunch includes securities industry gifts/mementos, as well. LA 5. Enjoy dinner for four students at an actual CRIME SCENE with Professors Biancavilla and Klein!!! Previously, they have taken everyone to Spark’s Steak House where mafia boss Constantino Paul “Big Paul” Castellano was shot to death in 1985. LA 6. Professor Brian Frye invites four students to dinner and then to see a documentary called “War Don Don” about the tribunals in Sierra Leone. Afterward, the students will get to meet the director and producer over drinks. LA 7. You’re all late for TEAAAAA. Well, not everyone. Up to five students can bid to have tea at Professor Charlow’s house at 2pm on Sunday, March 20th. LA 8. For those of you who love Mexican food, enjoy a dinner for four students at Besito in Huntington with Professors Grossman and Hayden. LA 9. Professor Gundlach is pleased to invite 8-10 students to her apartment in the city for dinner along with Professors Sample and Albert. LA 10. Who doesn’t want to live forever? Name a fictional character in Professor Burke’s seventh crime novel. Join the former students, professors, and other members of the Hofstra Law community who have appeared in Prof. Burke’s novels as judges, lawyers, police officers, and even as an, ahem, “escort!” The author insists on creative license, but you provide a plausible name and choose whether he or she should be good or bad, dead or alive, and the name will be forever memorialized in fiction. LA 11. Do you want to become a member of the New York City Bar Association? Professor Campagna will cover the membership of four students from now until they graduate from law school. In addition, she has arranged for a tour of the Bar Association followed by lunch at Maria’s Mont Blanc Restaurant.
