just some of the magical memories you could bring
back from your family holiday.
FAMILY holiday
Babies & Toddlers
Travelling with a baby or toddler can be daunting.
You can easily fill a suitcase just with nappies and
toys. We have many hotels in this collection that
aim to make life a little easier for you by providing
baby equipment, ensuring rooms are baby proof
or providing a crèche or babysitting service so
you can have a holiday too. All of our hotels are
family-friendly with staff who will go out of their
way to ensure your holiday is a pleasure rather
than a challenge.
PORTUGAL
The southern Portuguese region of the Algarve is a
superb holiday destination for the whole family, offering
an abundance of activities. The region has many
outstanding beaches, some secluded, traditional fishing
villages with fish and farmers’ markets and is famous for
its Azulejos tiles, which can be seen decorating local
buildings and churches. With so much to see and do, the
Algarve is both a beautiful and cultural region to visit.
Spain and her islands provide a vast diversity of culture
of family holidays. The mainland region of Costa Calida
has mountainous areas, vineyards and beaches and is a
beautiful area to explore. Each of the Canary Islands has
its own unique personality and scenery, with Tenerife’s
San Cristobal de la Laguna World Heritage Site,
Fuerteventura’s sand dunes and Lanzarote’s Cueva de los
On the southern shores of Tenerife, the characterful Gran Hotel Bahia del Duque overlooks the beautiful
beach of Playa del Duque. Considered one of the best hotels on the island, it is modelled on a turn-of-thenineteenth-century
Canarian village, with pastel walls, courtyards and tropical gardens. The resort’s proximity
to the beach and guaranteed inter-connecting rooms make this hotel popular with families. In addition, Las
Villas offer more privacy with private pools and spacious designs. The multiple bars and range of restaurants
offer a choice of cuisine from around the world.
Children will sleep soundly after a day on the beach, splashing in the children’s pools or at the mini club,
where activities include pirate treasure hunts, dressing up, crafts and games. Older children will be well
entertained at the Teenagers’ Club, offering a Playstation, Wii, internet and books. There is a babysitting
service and children’s menu is available in several of the restaurants. For those wishing to relax, there are five
swimming pools, the lovely beach and a magnificent spa.
INDIAN OCEAN
& THE ARABIAN GULF
Whether you’re searching for endless activities on land or
water, rest and relaxation, a spot of history and culture or a
mixture of everything, a family holiday in the Indian Ocean or
Arabian Gulf has it all.
When it comes to family holidays it’s important to keep
children of all ages happy and Mauritius is a great destination
for this, with most resorts offering outstanding family facilities
such as kids’ clubs, supervised activities, varied dining
options and safe beaches. These enjoy calm lagoon waters
for swimming and paddling, protected by one of the world’s
longest uninterrupted coral reefs. Activities both on land and
in the water are plentiful and many are complimentary. Many
hotels also include special tuition in groups for children and
teens in ideal locations for diving and children are often
able to take a Bubblemaker dive course, while all can enjoy
snorkelling off the beaches. In the Maldives more resorts are
now welcoming families.
While you may think that the Seychelles are designed
for romance, there are plenty of activities and spacious
accommodation for families, while activities offered in the
Arabian Gulf bring another dimension to family holidays, with
cultural and historical tours, adventure in the form of desert
safaris, camel riding and even sand or snow skiing.
In Dubai, children from toddlers to 16 year olds can
experience the award-winning KidZania ® within Dubai Mall.
This interactive ‘edutainment’ centre enables children to live
and understand the world of grown-ups by acting as grownups
themselves in a replica city by choosing a ‘job’, travelling
to work by various modes of transport and earning currency to
save in a bank or spend in certain outlets. Adults are welcome
but they must be accompanied by a child!
CARIBBEAN
Palm tree-lined beaches, warm sea, a fabulous
climate and charming Caribbean hospitality create
the ideal setting for a luxury family holiday. Each
of the Caribbean islands has its own character, yet
all offer the same family-friendly environment and
laid-back atmosphere. Caribbean people have
big personalities and even bigger smiles, ensuring
that the whole family will enjoy a fun-packed and
entertaining holiday.
The English speaking islands of Barbados, Antigua
and Saint Lucia are firm favourites with families
of all ages. Most resorts offer outstanding family
facilities such as kids’ clubs, supervised activities
and varied dining options, with gently shelving
beaches ensuring safe paddling or swimming in the
warm sea. Swim with turtles or dive to the depths in
the Atlantis Submarine in Barbados. Sail to hidden
coves for family picnics in Antigua, which is also a
great place for older children who want to learn to
scuba dive. Saint Lucia is an adventure playground.
Eco-tours abound; explore the rainforests by
gondola, fly through the treetops by zip-line and
take exhilarating bike rides through the mountains.
You can also watch turtles nest on the beach or
learn about the environment at the new Our Planet
visitor centre.
Bioluminescent bays, whale watching, mountain
trails and colonial history are some of the attractions
on the vibrant islands of Puerto Rico; whilst for
a gentler pace of life, British Virgin Islands offer
pristine beaches, island hopping and sailing
adventures. Swim with dolphins, glide down the
hillside by bobsled or take a treetop canopy tour
by zip-line in Jamaica.
THE FAR EAST
Whether you’re looking for an eco-adventure
experience, an educational holiday, an allencompassing
family-friendly resort or perhaps an
itinerary which incorporates a little bit of everything,
the Far East delivers on all counts. Thailand’s diverse
landscapes offer imposing mountains in the north,
lush tropical rainforests in central regions and
many beach resorts such as Phuket and Koh Samui
further south. Malaysia offers a different Far East
experience, from the dense jungles and wildlife
of Borneo to the mixed Asian fusion of cultures in
Penang. Indonesia is an archipelago made up of
more than 8,800 islands and is home to the islands
of Bali and Lombok. Witness the incredible traditions
of the Balinese people; observe the abundant
marine life or journey through some of the national
parks before ending your stay at one of the many
family-friendly resorts. One of the joys of a holiday
in the Far East is trying new and varied cuisine for
a real taste of the region’s daily life and culture – a
great experience for the whole family to share.
Best Beaches
The list is endless, but to name just a few; those
located in and around the Bo Phut area of Koh
Samui and the Laguna Resort in Phuket (Thailand)
are highly recommended, whilst the Malaysian state
of Sabah (Borneo) also offers some fantastic beach
resorts. Bali has many beaches, although the areas
of Nusa Dua and Jimbaran Bay are particularly well
suited for families.
– the Far East has it all
Best Experiences
The Malaysian states of Sarawak and Sabah in
Borneo are simply brilliant for jungle and wildlife,
while Penang and Georgetown are full of cultural
heritage. Thailand’s northern and central regions
have amazing elephant experiences, whilst the
capital city Bangkok is a vibrant metropolis.
Indonesia’s West Bali National Park in north-west
Bali is a sensation, as is simply walking through
cultural Ubud’s markets. For something a little bit
different, we recommend a tailor-made family tour
around the Indochina region, comprising Vietnam,
Cambodia and Laos.
for feeding and learning about
these endearing primates, before
heading to Turtle Islands. Your
KNOW BEFORE YOU BOOK
please read
Brochure Accuracy
Although we have made every effort to ensure that the content of this brochure is correct
at the time of publication (September 2011), it is inevitable that circumstances may
change. Facilities may be withdrawn due to maintenance e.g. the pool is closed as it
needs a tile replacing. Public and religious festivals may also impact on the availability
of facilities both in the hotel and the resort. We will endeavour to advise you of changes
we are aware of prior to travel.
All pictures shown have been checked for their accuracy; however it is realistic to assume
these have been taken during the most favourable conditions so seasonal variation may
apply. Any room shots are intended to give an overall impression of the hotel and we
can’t guarantee the décor will be the same in your room.
No brochure, no matter how detailed, will be able to give you all the information you
require, either prior to booking or during your holiday. For this reason we do recommend
some personal research into your chosen destination(s) prior to booking. We also have
a large selection of hotels and resorts which we have not brochured and these are
available on our website www.wandotravel.com
Your Travel Arrangements
As you would expect from one of the leading tour operators to the Mediterranean,
we offer a wide choice of flights from scheduled airlines to charter flights and low-cost
airlines, and to our worldwide destinations we offer the leading carriers such as British
Airways, Virgin Atlantic and Emirates. Although the prices quoted in this brochure include
flights from London, it goes without saying that there are many more convenient regional
airports up and down the country. We are able to arrange departures from all over the
UK, so if you have a local airport that would suit you better, please contact us and we
will organise a quotation for you.
Our Selected Hotels
Virtually all of our hotels are at least superior first class rising up to super luxury. This will
generally ensure the good standard of accommodation and associated features; however
we have no control over bookings accepted by hotels other than our own. The hotels we
feature can be shared with guests from other countries, with differing customs and cultures
which can add to the atmosphere and experience in varying ways.
Our Hotel Ratings and Facilities
All of our hotels have their own special appeal. We regularly inspect the hotels in our
programme and look for qualities that you may also find important, such as comfort of
the rooms, location and facilities on offer. We believe there is no such thing as ‘the best
hotel,’ however we are confident that we can find a gem within our large collection that
will meet your personal taste and requirements.
We do not use star ratings in the brochure as we find these ratings vary vastly from
country to country and are often graded on aspects of the hotel that may not be relevant
to you, such as conference facilities and televisions in the room.
Whilst we are only legally responsible for resort/property information contained in our
brochures and or websites, facilities may change without any notice given to Western
and Oriental and we ask that If your holiday enjoyment is dependent on a specific
item, please advise us well in advance so we can clarify availability and obtain written
confirmation. We are specifically not responsible for third party brochures or website
promotions – for example by hotels or tourist boards and of course other tour operators.
Seasonality
The majority of the resorts and destinations shown in this brochure can be offered on
a year round basis although seasonal variances do apply, especially in Europe. These
are summarised on the relevant pages. You will note that some of the lower prices and
extra value offers apply in the quieter months, when the climate may not be so consistent.
During the quieter months hotels may decide to reduce facilities in line with anticipated
occupancy (e.g. closure of restaurant/re-painting of pool). Equally in the busier months
you should expect a livelier atmosphere with more demands placed on the facilities and
the attentions of the staff. This can be particularly evident at times of school holidays
when even a quiet hotel can have a sudden change in noise levels.
We will endeavour to notify you when a supplier informs us in advance of any service
closure or reductions, however some operate this based on their daily occupancy levels
and we therefore cannot know of this in advance. If you feel that a particular service is
paramount to your holiday enjoyment please do inform us in advance.
Essential Kids Facts
On each page we have included an easy reference box with all the essential facts to
help you choose the best hotel for your family.
We have full details available of exactly which child facilities are available at our chosen
hotels and resorts so please do enquire at the time of booking.
Sometimes children of a certain age will not be permitted to use water sport facilities
within a resort due to insurance limitations. Should you require further details of age
restriction please enquire at the time of booking.
Holidays for those with Disabilities
Whilst we do accept bookings from those with a disability, not all of the properties
featured are suitable. Please enquire specifically if you need any clarification and we will
offer our suggestions based on your individual and personal requirements.
Building Work
If we receive prior advice we will inform you of any building work that we think may
affect your holiday. However, please note that we have little or no control over building
work taking place on private property that may be adjacent to one of our featured hotels.
Holiday Prices
Because of the choice we can offer you, it is not possible to list every price on every
date. A ‘from’ price is indicative of the lowest price available for the hotel featured and
is based on both Low and High Season. These prices may also vary depending on a
number of factors such as your exact date of travel, the total number travelling in your
party and the configuration of the accommodation. All our quotations are personalised
to your exact requirements and each quote will utilise the very best rates available at the
time. To help you in choosing a holiday which is tailor made by us to your requirements,
please call our sales experts, or visit your travel agent.
The holiday price includes:
Return flights from London
Accommodation on the occupancy and board basis stated
Return transfers from the airport to your accommodation
What’s Not Included in the Price
Holiday insurance
Transportation between your home and UK departure airport
UK regional flights to London
Food and beverage on flights (although some carriers offer these on a complimentary
basis)
Car parking in the UK or resort
Porterage where not provided by the hotel
Tips and gratuities
Tourist taxes payable locally (usually a nominal nightly fee)
Special Offers
These additional offers can really enhance your holiday enjoyment and details will
be provided within your quote. Some of these offers have limited availability so early
booking can be essential. A realist will accept that very few hotels will give much away
in their peak demand months; however in the less busy months they will be more willing
to entice you. It will therefore not come as a surprise that some of these extra value offers
occur when the weather is less consistent.
Passports and Visas
All British Citizens must be in possession of a valid 10 year passport. This should have
a minimum validity of six months (several countries are strict on this). UK passport holders
do not currently require visas except for Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, India, Bali, Australia,
and China; however it is your responsibility to check that you have all valid documents
in advance of booking your holiday. It is important that your passport has at least one
clean page for entry visa to be inserted. Other nationals should enquire at the relevant
embassy. This information is correct at the time of going to print and may be subject to
amendment. Your passport and air ticket must be in the same name. If you have recently
married and your passport is in your maiden name, your marriage certificate must be
taken with your travel documents.
152

Health & Vaccinations
We do suggest consultation with your own GP with regards to all health and vaccination
issues. This is important if you are visiting either the more populous areas or forest/water
regions. For travel to rural/jungle areas we strongly suggest precaution against Malaria,
Typhoid and Hepatitis A, as well as anything your doctor may suggest for you. All
travellers should avoid contact with any wild and domestic animals, including pets. Preexposure
vaccination should be given to adults and children at increased risk of rabies
or who are travelling to remote areas where medical care and post-exposure prophylaxis
with rabies vaccine and rabies immunoglobulin (RIG) are not readily available. Following
an animal bite, wounds must be thoroughly cleaned and an urgent medical assessment
sought, even if the wound appears trivial.
All hotels and tours mentioned do contract with us on the basis that they comply with
local regulations governing health, safety and hygiene. Some of these standards may be
less than applicable in the UK, whilst others may be even more stringent. Cases of hotel
food poisoning are very rare. Less reliable would be the purchase of food or drinks from
beach/roadside vendors. Having said that please experiment with the local food from
hotel and recommended restaurants.
Before You Fly
With many airlines no longer offering advance seat selection, we strongly recommend
checking-in online when possible. This allows you to select your seats before arriving at
the airport. Our Reservations staff can provide information and book you a chauffeur
driven transfer, airport parking, overnight accommodation and airport lounges. Please
ask for details.
Hotel Check-in & Early Flights
Hotel check-in policies vary at each hotel but you are typically permitted to occupy your
room from 2-3pm. If you have an early arriving flight and wish to guarantee early access
to your room you will normally have to pay for an additional night. The same normally
applies to late checkout. You will normally be required to checkout at about 11am.
However, your hotel should be able to provide a room for you to be able to change
clothes and freshen up. Please contact your consultant for more information.
Meals and Hotel Restaurants
Meal plans are available at most hotels. Pre-booked meal plans and all inclusive hotels
may be restricted to the table d’hote menu although a credit is normally offered to
be used against a la carte menus and specialty restaurants. During the winter season
or times of low occupancy, hotels with a number of restaurants, may only open one
restaurant each day on a rotational basis meaning that during a one week stay you
should have the opportunity to dine in each restaurant at least once. If you have special
dietary requirements please ensure you advise your consultant at the time of booking,
however please note we cannot guarantee your request will be catered for.
All-Inclusive Holidays
It is standard practice at all-inclusive hotels that not all bars and restaurants will operate
on an all inclusive basis. Supplements may also be payable for premium branded drinks,
as well as a la carte dining. Times of operation of the all inclusive package will also vary
from hotel to hotel.
Please note that the all-inclusive package will end when you check out of your room. If
your flight departs later in the day, it may be possible to pay a fee in resort to utilise the
all inclusive service for longer.
our emergency phone (number given in documentation), and this problem will usually be
rectified.
In most of our resorts outside Europe we employ a local representative to whom your
complaint should be registered with, if you find no resolution to your problems can be
found from the hotel management. We work very closely with our local representatives
and will endeavour to ensure your holiday gets back on track as quickly as possible. Of
course in doing this we expect that your requests are both reasonable and in accordance
with what has been requested by yourself at the time of booking.
Car Hire
We strongly recommend car hire during your stay at many of our hotels because of the
added flexibility it provides. Our reservations team is able to organise this for you. They
will also be able to quote competitive prices and advice on the documentation you will
require.
Your Safety Whilst Abroad
Please take note of hotel suggestions on safety whilst at your hotel, particularly regarding
balconies, safes, lifts, swimming pools and beach/sea use. Many of our hotels do
offer water sports within the arrangements and these are generally covered under the
hotel’s insurance (see also ‘Essential Kids Facts’). You might be expected to prove your
proficiency prior to use and an additional charge may be made for instruction. You will
probably be offered optional facilities by beach vendors – such usage would be strictly
at your own risk. Frequently these vendors have no insurance and use deliberately faulty
and dangerous equipment, making a good living off gullible visitors.
Special Requests
If you are celebrating a special occasion, birthday, anniversary or even are on your
honeymoon, please ensure you advise us at the time of booking so we can forward
this information to your hotel. If you have any specific dietary requirements we must
be advised at the time of confirming your flight reservations so we can request you
are catered for on your flights. Please note many airlines have a restricted number of
special meal options and not every request can be guaranteed. In cases of your dietary
requirement being very specific we recommend you purchase sufficient refreshments for
your journey once clearing customs. More and more airlines are removing the facility of
pre-booking specific seats in economy class; however this facility is usually available if
you check in on-line up to 48 hours prior to arriving at your departure airport.
Consumer Protection
The air holidays in this brochure are ATOL protected, since we hold Air Travel Organiser’s
Licences granted by the Civil Aviation Authority. Our ATOL number is 10417. In the
unlikely event of our insolvency, the CAA will ensure that you are not stranded abroad
and will arrange to refund any money you have paid to us for an advance booking. For
further information visit the ATOL website at www.atol.org.uk.
We are also a member of ABTA, membership number Y1152. All package holidays that
you buy from us that do not include a flight or other individual travel elements that you
buy from us (e.g. accommodation only, car hire etc) are also protected for your security
provided by way of a bond held by ABTA. For further information visit the ABTA website
at www.abta.com.
Representative Service
We do not use local representatives in Europe, except at selected hotels, as we have
found over the years that your hotel’s concierge is often able to provide more up to date
and impartial advice on places to see and eat. If you have any problems whilst away
and need to speak to a member of staff we have a 24 hour, 365 day a year out of
hours service. Details of this service will be included with your travel documents. If you
do have any reason to be unhappy with your facilities or resort/hotel service, please
bring this to the attention of senior management at the hotel or by contacting us through
This brochure is printed on paper from sustainable forests and
trees from ISO14001 certified mills.
We are a Member of ABTA, membership number Y1152. We are obliged to maintain a high standard of service to you by ABTA’s
Code of Conduct. We can also offer you an arbitration scheme for the resolution of disputes arising out of, or in connection with, this
contract. Further information on the Code and arbitration can be found on ABTA’s website www.abta.com
The arbitration scheme is arranged by ABTA and administered independently by IDRS, part of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators. It
provides for a simple and inexpensive method of arbitration on documents alone with restricted liability on you in respect of costs.
Full details will be provided on request or can be obtained from the ABTA website. The scheme does not apply to claims for an
amount greater than £5,000 per person. There is also a limit of £25,000 per booking. Neither does it apply to claims which are
solely in respect of physical injury or illness or their consequences.
The scheme can however deal with compensation claims which include an element of minor injury or illness subject to a limit of
£1,000 on the amount the arbitrator can award per person in respect of this element.
The application for arbitration and Statement of Claim must be received by IDRS within nine months of the date of return from the
holiday. Outside this time limit arbitration under the Scheme may still be available if the company agrees, but the ABTA Code does
not require such agreement.
For injury and illness claims, you may like to use the ABTA/Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Mediation Procedure. This is a voluntary
scheme and requires us to agree for mediation to go ahead. The aim is to help you resolve your dispute in a quick and cost effective
way. Details on request or from www.abta.com
4. PAYMENT FOR YOUR HOLIDAY
A deposit of £250 per person or 10% of the total holiday price (whichever is greater) is required at the time of booking. We reserve
the right to vary the deposit as appropriate. The balance is due eight weeks prior to departure. If the booking is made less than eight
weeks before departure, the full amount is due on booking. If any balance remains unpaid, travel documentation will not be issued
and we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled and apply the cancellation charge set out below. Final travel documents
will usually be sent out approximately two weeks before departure. All money paid to a travel agent will be held by the agent on our
behalf. Payment must be in the currency of the invoice and you are responsible for bank charges. If you choose to pay the balance
of your holiday by credit card a 2.5% levy will be charged. No charge is levied for payment by debit card. In some cases quotations
will be based on instant purchase, limited availability non refundable airfares and full payment of the total holiday cost must be
made at the time of booking. Full details will be given at the time of enquiry.
5. INFORMATION
Whilst we make every effort to ensure that the information in our brochure is as accurate as possible, it is published many months
before your holiday takes place. We reserve the right to make changes to the brochure and any information it contains. You will be
informed of any material changes before booking. Western and Oriental Travel Limited are only responsible for information
7. AMENDMENT AND CANCELLATION BY US
(A) AMENDMENTS
It is occasionally necessary for us to make changes to advertised products and services and we reserve the right to make such
changes. In exceptional circumstances we may have to modify your holiday after booking. If the change is minor we will do our best to
notify you in advance but are not obliged to do so and no compensation is payable. If the change is material (for example, a change of
flight time by more than 12 hours, change of destination or to a lower standard of accommodation), we will notify you as soon as
practically possible and offer you the choice of (i) accepting the alternative arrangements or (ii) arranging an alternative holiday with
us or (iii) cancelling your holiday. Whichever option you choose, we will pay you compensation unless the change has been caused by
force majeure or low bookings as defined below.
Days before departure
Compensation per person
43 Nil
42-29 £40
28-15 £50
14-0 £70
(B) CHANGES DURING THE HOLIDAY
If we are unable to provide a significant proportion of your holiday whilst you are away, suitable alternative arrangements will be
made for you at no extra cost or, alternatively, you will be returned to your point of departure and given a pro-rata refund for any
part of the holiday not received. This does not apply to minor changes in your accommodation, itinerary or transportation.
(C) CANCELLATION BY US
Whilst we hope we will never have to cancel your holiday, this does very occasionally happen and we reserve the right to do so.
Should it be necessary to cancel your holiday, we will endeavour to offer alternative travel arrangements of equivalent or similar
standards, together with a price refund if appropriate. Alternatively we will provide a full and prompt refund.
(D) FORCE MAJEURE
Compensation will not be payable in any cases where an amendment, change or cancellation is due to ‘force majeure’, being
unusual or unforeseeable events or circumstances beyond our control, the consequences of which neither we nor our suppliers
could avoid. These include, but are not limited to, war, threat of war, riot, civil disturbance or strike, terrorist activity (actual or
threatened), industrial disputes, technical or maintenance problems with transport, machinery or equipment, power failure, natural
or nuclear disaster, fire, flood, drought, adverse weather conditions, levels of water in rivers, acts of God, closure of airports,
changes of schedules or operational decisions of transport providers.
(E) LOW BOOKINGS
Compensation is not payable if a holiday or tour does not take place because a required minimum number of passengers to enable
the holiday or tour to take place has not been reached and you were informed of that requirement at the time of booking.
8. PRICES
All prices advertised or quoted are per person based on sharing a twin/double room and are in pounds sterling unless otherwise
shown and are subject to change, up or down, until the booking is concluded. After that, we will only increase the price in limited
circumstances to reflect increases in transportation costs (including fuel and airfares), dues, government approved taxes (including
VAT), both in the UK and overseas, fees chargeable for services (including landing taxes, embarkation and disembarkation, and
security fees at airports), Government action or exchange rate variation. If the surcharge would increase the cost of your holiday by
10% or more, you may cancel your holiday and receive a full refund (except insurance premiums). We will absorb, and you will not
be charged for, any increase equivalent to up to 2% of the original price of your holiday (excluding insurance premiums and
amendment fees). No surcharges will be made within 30 days of departure. Prices in this brochure were calculated on the exchange
rate of £1 = US$1.59, £1 = A1.09
9. OUR RESPONSIBILITIES TO YOU
We take care to ensure that all involved in the preparation and supply of your holiday maintain the highest standards. Please
remember that the appropriate standards will be those prevalent in your destination, which may not be the same as developed
international standards.
(a) We will pay reasonable compensation (subject to (c) below) if the product supplied to you is not of the standard described or
contracted for by you. This compensation will be limited (except in the case of death or injury) to no more than twice the holiday
price of the person affected.
(b) Should failure in your holiday arrangements relating to you or any member of your party being killed, injured or becoming ill
during or as a result of, carriage by aircraft, ship, train or coach as part of the holiday arrangements organised by us, our liability to
pay compensation is limited in accordance with the liability of the carrier/service under any international convention which governs
such services.
(c) Our liability to you does not apply if you or any member of your group is at fault; if the failure is the fault of someone else not
connected with providing the services which form part of our holiday contract with you; the failure is due to any unusual or
unexpected circumstances beyond our control, which we could not have avoided even if we had used all care possible, or the failure
is due to any event which we or the supplier of any service could not help, expect or prevent. This includes Force Majeure.
(d) Any acceptance of liability is subject to you agreeing to assign to us your rights against any third party responsible for the events
leading to your claim and to you affording us all necessary assistance in pursuing that claim.
10. COMPLAINTS
If you have any complaint or problem whilst on holiday you must inform us, our representatives or the supplier as soon as possible
to give us the maximum opportunity to rectify it. Any unresolved complaints must be notified to us in writing within 30 days of your
return.
11. PASSPORTS, VISAS AND OTHER ESSENTIAL DOCUMENTATION
It is your responsibility to ensure that all necessary passports are machine readable. You should also ensure that all necessary visas,
international driving licences, vaccinations and other health documents are in order. All passports must have a validity of at least six
months from your scheduled return date to the UK. You will generally need clear/clean pages for visas, as required, to be inserted.
You must read all documentation that is supplied to you and ensure that all information contained within is correct. Failure to do so
may incur amendment charges which are your responsibility.
Some countries and airlines now require additional passenger information (API). We will inform you which countries require this.
This information is compulsory and is required by authorities. It is essential that all clients provide the API prior to travelling. Failure
to provide this information may result in you being denied boarding for your flight. No refund will be permitted and any additional
costs will be borne by the named clients.
12. TRAVEL INSURANCE
Your holiday package with us does NOT include travel insurance and it is your responsibility to ensure you have adequate insurance
cover. In accordance with normal industry practice, we will require you to have adequate travel insurance to provide accident and
medical cover before your holiday departs. Such insurance should ideally be valid from the date of booking, be valid throughout the
holiday duration and financially cover any probable loss through cancellation, amendment, accident or health related problems. You
should ensure you are covered for all activities you are planning on your trip. If you do not already have a travel insurance policy, you
can visit our website to purchase excellent value single-trip and annual policies provided by Travel & General Insurance Company
plc. For any assistance with insurance please call the insurers helpline directly on 0845 408 0583.
13. MEALS
All pre-booked meals will be on a table d’hôte basis. Supplements can apply for à la carte items or restaurants.
14. SPECIAL REQUESTS
Whilst we will endeavour to comply with any special requests such as airline seating, diet and room requirements, we can only do
so on a ‘goodwill’ basis. As these are usually only provided at the discretion of the relevant supplier, we cannot guarantee availability
and cannot be held responsible if they are not provided.
15. EXCURSIONS AND ACTIVITIES
We are only responsible for excursions and activities sold by us and which form part of your holiday contract.
16. JURISDICTION
This contract is governed by English Law and is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
17. DATA PROTECTION POLICY
In order for us to process your booking we need to store and record your information, including data as supplied. This may include
transfer of such information outside of the European Economic Area to parties involved in the arrangements of your holiday. Equally,
we use such information for updating our mailing lists and from time to time you may receive travel related information from us or
from another company from within Western and Oriental Travel Limited. Should you not wish to receive such literature you must
advise us in writing.
18. UK FOREIGN OFFICE ADVICE ON OVERSEAS TRAVEL
It is now assumed that British citizens are at risk of terrorism, be it in the UK or when travelling overseas. History has shown us
these attacks can either be spontaneous or premeditated. For your guidance we suggest you visit the website of the Foreign Office
on: ww.fco.gov.uk or tel: 0845 850 2829. The website is regularly updated and provides you with country-specific information,
including advice on terrorism and general matters on health and safety.
19. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
In addition to these general booking conditions, specific relevant destination information maybe contained within the individual
brochures and websites. See Know Before You Book on pages 150-151.
