2.0 Continued
2.8.5 Widgiemooltha Joint Venture Project
Heron 100%. WMC Resources Limited right to earn 80% through spending $0.3m.
Nickel - gold.
The 150km 2 Widgiemooltha project area covering 4 tenement applications is located 120km SSE of Kalgoorlie within
the southern extension of the Kunanalling and Zuleika Shear systems. Field reconnaissance confirms a Zuleika Shear
Zone structural setting.
The Pioneer Prospect covers the Mariners-Dordie Rocks nickel sulphide-hosting komatiite succession. The
Pioneer komatiite has nickel sulphide occurrences to the immediate north along strike.
The Larkinville Prospect covers the western synformal repetition of the nickel mine-hosting Spargoville ultramafic
sequence. Larkinville surrounds several historical gold mining areas, and is north along strike from the Chalice gold mine.
Heron’s geological reconnaissance and interpretation suggests the Pioneer and Larkinville ultramafic rocks are
dominantly spinifex textured komatiite sheet-flows and channels, and accordingly are more prospective for nickel
sulphide targets than nickel laterite.
A Joint Venture offer has been received from WMC Resources on the Widgiemooltha tenements to appraise the nickel
sulphide potential. In particular, a high priority nickel sulphide target has been generated at Pioneer, which will be drill
tested on grant of the tenements.
Farm-out discussions are current on a further 5 tenement applications covering 12km 2 at Yilmia Hill in the northern
Spargoville-Widgiemooltha nickel mining field. An 800x100m MMI soil sampling program was completed by Heron.
A coincident Au-Pd anomaly was generated, with 10.2ppb Au and 4.2ppb Pd.
2.8.6 Mount Thirsty Project
Heron 100%.
Nickel (-gold).
The 12km 2 project area covering 9 tenements is located 12km N of Norseman. Previous drill testing of ultramafic units
during gold exploration programs has intersected up to 10m at 0.8% Ni. Prospecting Licence applications are
awaiting grant.
2.9 KAMBALDA DOMAIN
GOLD-NICKEL EXPLORATION
2.9.1 Binduli East Project
Heron 100%. AngloGold Australasia Limited right to earn 75% through spending $0.5m.
Gold - nickel.
The 35km 2 contiguous project area covering 14 tenements is located 10km SW of Kalgoorlie straddling the Abattoir
Shear Zone. Dominant lithology is dolerite to the east of the Shear, and felsic volcaniclastic to the west.
The project area is south along strike from the Janet Ivy gold resource, with the Binduli gold mining centre at the
western project boundary. Both of these deposits are felsic hosted. The KCGM Superpit hosted by dolerite occurs
8km E. Expenditure by Heron to date is $0.1 million, from soil and rock chip sampling.
AngloGold has completed a review of Heron’s previous exploration, prior to commencing Auger soil sampling.
Photo Strip: Eucalypt, acacia, eromophilia, quondong and sandalwood trees are widespread through the Goldfields
woodlands. Quondong is highly valued for its bush tucker, and sandalwood for its aromatic timber. A drill site can always
be moved a metre or two when there is a quondong or sandalwood tree near the proposed drill hole.
‘The Emu’ Andrew Abdullah “At Binduli mine we saw lots of emus. The emus were looking for quondongs.”
