The Heron Philosophy
The commodity emphasis for Heron is unequivocally Nickel Laterite,
and the project emphasis is Goongarrie, followed by Ghost Rocks
and Kalpini.
The Company appreciates the assistance provided by the
Gindalbie, Hampton Hill, Mount Vetters and Goongarrie stations in
terms of field camp sites, drill site preparation and rehabilitation.
These stations have a long established land care ethic, under which
Heron works at all times. Bill Riddle, the retired Goongarrie
pastoralist, has been a great help in allowing Heron to understand
his former property.
Heron is an equal opportunity employer, committed to the
community of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. It supports Work for the Dole
programs, and several Aboriginal training schemes. The Company
is proud to be a long term sponsor of Ngunytju Tjitji Pirni Aboriginal
Corporation (“NTP”), an organisation committed to Aboriginal mother
and children’s health in the Eastern Goldfields.
One of Heron’s environmental contractors is Karlkurla
Environmental. Karlkurla started as a Work for the Dole
program doing community environmental work around
Kalgoorlie-Boulder, and has now developed into a commercial
contractor. Heron was the first of its mining clients, and wishes
Karlkurla every future success.
Photo: Sanderson Drilling Pty Ltd, contractors for the
Diamond Drilling. The quality of core recovered was
very good and a tribute to the skills of Sandersons.
Heron, as with all Australian mineral explorers, continues to work within the framework of Native Title. The Company
is committed to a policy of cultural respect and negotiation with the Aboriginal custodians of our exploration land. To
the claimants of this land and the Goldfields Land and Sea Council, we once again express our appreciation of their
patient negotiation, and ongoing site clearance field work.
Photo Strip: These mudcracks are in a sump which holds drill return water. This particular sump is at GSRC 363 and the
mud assays over 1.2% Ni. The sump prevents saline ground water affecting nearby vegetation. Hole GSRC 363 was
drilling ahead in high grade ore at 84m depth. The sump became full of ground water. Continued drilling would have
placed nearby tan wattles at salt risk. The hole was thus stopped in high grade ore.
‘Two Ways’ Krystal Foley “This is a painting of two sides of the desert and of the mine site.”
