THE CORONATION 101<br />

Many o<strong>the</strong>r words of life saint Peter and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

Apostles spoke <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong>m, by which <strong>the</strong> perfidious Jews<br />

and <strong>the</strong> o<strong>the</strong>r unbelievers were much confounded; and<br />

withdrew and left <strong>the</strong><br />

as no one could answer, <strong>the</strong>y<br />

C.enacle. But <strong>the</strong> number of those that received <strong>the</strong><br />

true faith of Jesus Christ amounted <strong>to</strong> about three<br />

thousand (Acts 2, 41). They<br />

all attached <strong>the</strong>mselves<br />

<strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Apostles and were baptized by <strong>the</strong>m <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> great<br />

consternation and fear of all<br />

Jerusalem for <strong>the</strong> wonders<br />

;<br />

and prodigies performed by <strong>the</strong> Apostles filled with<br />

terror and dismay<br />

<strong>the</strong> Apostles retired that evening within <strong>the</strong> Cenacle, in<br />

order <strong>to</strong> give an account <strong>to</strong> <strong>the</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r of mercy, <strong>the</strong><br />

purest Mary. With <strong>the</strong>m also entered a great number<br />

of <strong>the</strong> new children of <strong>the</strong> Church, in order that <strong>the</strong>y<br />

might come <strong>to</strong> know and venerate <strong>the</strong> Mo<strong>the</strong>r of mercy.<br />

80. But <strong>the</strong> great Queen of <strong>the</strong> angels was ignorant<br />
