pnvented with death, shall be in rest. FOP venerable old age is not that of long time, nor counted by the nambcr of years; but the understanding of a man is gray hairs, and a spotless life is old age. He pleased God and was beloved, and living among sinners He was translated. He was taken away lest wickedness should alter his understanding, or deceit beguile his eoal. For the bewitching of vanity obscureth good things, and the wandering of concupiscence overtumeth the innbcent mind. Being made perfect in a short space, he fulfilled a long time. For his soul pleased God; therefore He hastened to bring him out of the midst of iniquities; but the people see this, and understand not, nor lay up such things in their hearts; e of God and His mercy is with His saints, that and that the r e hath respect to His chosen. But the just that is dead condemneth the wicked that are living, and youth soon ended, the long life of the unjust. For they shall see the end of the wise man, and shall not understand what God hath designed for him, and ahy the Lord hath set him in safety. They shall see him, and shall despise him; but the Lord shall laugh them to scorn. Then shall the just stand with great constancy against those that have dlictad them, snd takm away their kbors. These it shall be troubled with terrible far, and dull be a x at the suddenness of their unexpected salvation, saying within themselves rapnting, and groanhg for anguish of spirit: - These are they wham we had some time in derision, and for a parable of mpmrch. We foals esteemed their life madness, and thew end without honor. Behold how they are numbered among the children of God, and their lot is among the saints (Wis.). Then shall the King say to them, that shall be on His right hand: Come ye blessed of My Father; possess you the kingdom p*pared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry, and you gave Me to eat; I was thirsty, and you gave Me to drink; I was a stranger, and you to& Me in ; naked. and you covered Me; sick, and you visited %e. \ Then the just answer Him, saying: Lord, when did we see Thee hungry, and fed Thee ; thirsty, and gave Thee drink? And when did we see Thee a stranger, and took Thee in? or naked, and cowed Thee? Or when did we see Thee sick or in prison, and came to Thee? And the King aesweridg shall say to them: Amen, I say. to gw, as long as you did it to one of these my least brethren, you did it to Me (Ma#. xxv. 34-40).
