enlightened us, 0 Thou true light, that shineth
in the darkness of the \i,orld; Thou hast taught us
the value of our immortal soul by Thy death upon
the cross; Thou hast taught us to detach our
hearts from the things of earth, to raise up our
thoughts to Thee and to journey onward and upward
through weariness and toil to our tru: and
lasting country in hearen. There, Thou hast
assured us, if we persevere in Thy service and love,
we shall find peace after the conflict, rest from our
trouble, and perfect happiness.
0 God, may my sou1 become a perpetual sacrifice
in Thy honor; grant that it may al~vay seek
Thy greater glory here on earth in order that it may
one day come to enjoy the beauty and the glory of
Thy infinite perfections in heaven. Amen.
OOK down upon me, good and gentle
Jesus, while l~fore Thy face I
humbly kneel, and with burning
ul pray and beseech Thee to fix deep
my heart lively sentiments of faith,
e, apd charity, true contrition for my
sins, and a firm purpose of amendment;
and while I contemplate with great love
and tender pity Thy h e wounds,
pondering over them within me, and calling
to mind the words which David, Thy prophet,
said of Thee, my Jesus; "They have pkced
