Thou, our King: Thou alone hast
compassion on our errors: obedient to the
Father, Thou wert led to be crucified, like a meek
lamb to the slaughter.
"The chastisement of our peace was upon Him :
and by His bruises we are healed. . . . He hath
borne our infirmities and carried our sorrows. . . .
He was wounded for our iniquities, He was bruised
for our sins" (Is. liii).
"They have pierced my hands and my feet;
the- have numbered all my bones'' (Ps. xxi. 17,
18j.
Sarrowful and sad art thou, 0 Virgin Mary,
standi~g by the cross of the Lord Jesus, thy Son,
our Redeemer. We bless thee and thank thee
for all thou didst sufIer for love of us. Pray for
us that through the passion of thy divine Son we
may attain to life everlasting.
Reflect on the patience and gentleness of Jesus in allowing
Himself to be dragged from tribunal to tribunal, and
say:
SPOTLESS Lamb of God! while Thy judges
0 proclaim Thee an impostor, I rise without
fear or shame to declare, in the face of heaven and
earth, that Thou art Christ, the Son of the living
God, and that I unreservedly assent to all the
dogmas and to every article of truth proposed by
