cultural tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g, early childhood social<br />

care/pedagogy, special educati<strong>on</strong>,<br />

organisati<strong>on</strong> and management of<br />

children and youth camps, etc.<br />

Tra<strong>in</strong>ees who complete their studies<br />

obta<strong>in</strong> a Vocati<strong>on</strong>al Tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g Diploma<br />

(post sec<strong>on</strong>dary level +3).<br />

2) Private vocati<strong>on</strong>al tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g centres<br />

(KEK) provide vocati<strong>on</strong>al tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

courses for employment <strong>in</strong> the areas of<br />

culture, sports and leisure.<br />

3) Centres for adult educati<strong>on</strong> (KEE)<br />

offer a variety of tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g courses <strong>on</strong>:<br />

- Counsell<strong>in</strong>g and special educati<strong>on</strong><br />

(25-50 hours). Tra<strong>in</strong>ees receive a<br />

Further Educati<strong>on</strong> Certificate.<br />

- Leisure time management (250<br />

hours-1 year study). Access requires a<br />

high school degree. Tra<strong>in</strong>ees receive a<br />

Lifel<strong>on</strong>g Learn<strong>in</strong>g Certificate.<br />

4) The General Secretariat for <strong>Youth</strong><br />

provides special tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g courses to the<br />

employees of youth <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong><br />

centres, twice a year (each tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />

sessi<strong>on</strong> has a durati<strong>on</strong> of two days).<br />

Academy for social work: Diploma <strong>in</strong><br />

Social <strong>Work</strong>, 4 years,<br />

University: Diploma <strong>in</strong> Educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

Sciences<br />

Both are courses with a ma<strong>in</strong>ly<br />

theoretical focus<br />

University degrees <strong>in</strong> social sciences<br />

(sociology, social policy, social work,<br />

etc.) 3+2 at BA and MA level.<br />

1) University diploma <strong>in</strong> educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

sciences with a specialisati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> social<br />

pedagogy: 4 years plus 6 m<strong>on</strong>ths of<br />

placement<br />

2) Polytechnic diploma <strong>in</strong> social<br />

work/social pedagogy: 3 years plus 1<br />

year of practice<br />

3) Bachelor/Master of Social <strong>Work</strong>: 2<br />

years/3 years plus practice. Admissi<strong>on</strong><br />

to a master´s programme requires a<br />

professi<strong>on</strong>al certificate. ECTS<br />

accreditati<strong>on</strong><br />

1) University degree <strong>in</strong> social<br />

adm<strong>in</strong>istrati<strong>on</strong>, major <strong>in</strong> social work: 4<br />

years of studies <strong>in</strong>clud<strong>in</strong>g 2 years of<br />

practice.<br />

2) University degrees <strong>in</strong> social<br />

sciences (sociology, psychology, social<br />

policy, social anthropology, etc.), <strong>in</strong><br />

educati<strong>on</strong>al sciences and pedagogy<br />

(primary educati<strong>on</strong>, early childhood<br />

educati<strong>on</strong>, special educati<strong>on</strong>, social<br />

pedagogy, etc.), not youth work<br />

specific: 4-year studies, plus, <strong>in</strong> some<br />

cases, some k<strong>in</strong>d of practice<br />

depend<strong>in</strong>g <strong>on</strong> the degree.<br />

3) Higher Technological Educati<strong>on</strong>al<br />

Institute degree <strong>in</strong> social work:<br />

<strong>in</strong> the follow<strong>in</strong>g areas: social welfare,<br />

special educati<strong>on</strong>, physicalpsychological<br />

and mental health, social<br />

guidance, del<strong>in</strong>quency preventi<strong>on</strong>,<br />

community development, social<br />

services with<strong>in</strong> the framework of the<br />

Hellenic Armed Forces and the<br />

M<strong>in</strong>istry of Public Order, etc.<br />
