In Greece and Spa<strong>in</strong> recreati<strong>on</strong> activities are jo<strong>in</strong>ed by most of the participants of youth<br />

work. 50% of all participants attend recreati<strong>on</strong> activities <strong>in</strong> Greece, 28% <strong>in</strong> Spa<strong>in</strong> and 23% <strong>in</strong><br />

Norway. Extracurricular youth educati<strong>on</strong> plays an important role for Romanian youngsters<br />

as 48% of all participants of youth work attend these activities. In the Netherlands sports<br />

seem to be the most highlighted youth activity (74% of all youngsters participate <strong>in</strong> sports) as<br />

well as <strong>in</strong> Norway where 39% of the young people participate <strong>in</strong> sports too. For the Spanish<br />

youngsters sports is also attractive: 26% of the youngsters participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> youth work are<br />

practic<strong>in</strong>g sports.<br />

In all countries – with the excepti<strong>on</strong> of Spa<strong>in</strong> - from where data is available the percentage of<br />

girls participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> youth work is slightly higher.<br />

In Austria the greatest percentage of youngsters participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong> youth work falls up<strong>on</strong> the<br />

group of youngsters aged from 13 to 14 years. The age groups 15-19 and 20-25 are<br />

represented with 32% and 13%. Also <strong>in</strong> the Netherlands youngsters aged from 13-14years<br />

and 14-19 years form the greatest group of participants. In Romania there is no data about<br />

the age groups but there are no youth work available for youngsters older that 24 years. In<br />

Spa<strong>in</strong> and <strong>in</strong> Norway the ma<strong>in</strong> group of youngsters represented <strong>in</strong> youth work activities are<br />

young people aged from 15-19 years. In Norway youngster older than 18 years are not<br />

c<strong>on</strong>sidered as target group of youth work anymore.<br />

From Austria and the Netherlands was reported that the age groups were not captured well<br />

with the given categories as youngsters aged under 13 years were often participat<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />

youth work too. In Germany <strong>on</strong>ly the total number of participants is traceable and even this<br />

<strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> is not comparable because of different documentati<strong>on</strong> categories.<br />
