The number of full-time positi<strong>on</strong>s <strong>in</strong> child welfare per 1000 <strong>in</strong>habitants is similar for the four<br />
municipalities. Frøya has substantially more employees per <strong>in</strong>habitant <strong>in</strong> youth clubs than the<br />
other municipalities. This is probably because the municipality covers a large area. This<br />
means that they must have more youth clubs than they would if the municipality was smaller.<br />

Most youth workers <strong>in</strong> child welfare have higher educati<strong>on</strong> as this is required for these k<strong>in</strong>ds<br />
of positi<strong>on</strong>s. The table also shows that there are far more males than females work<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong><br />
child welfare.<br />
The most reliable source of <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> we have <strong>on</strong> participati<strong>on</strong> is Young <strong>in</strong> Oslo 2006 and<br />
Young <strong>in</strong> Porsgrunn 2002. In additi<strong>on</strong> some statistics from KOSTRA and the <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Work</strong><br />
Survey will be presented. KOSTRA c<strong>on</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s <strong>on</strong>ly <strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> about participati<strong>on</strong> <strong>in</strong> youth<br />
work c<strong>on</strong>ducted by public organisati<strong>on</strong>s. The <strong>Youth</strong> <strong>Work</strong> Survey also <strong>on</strong>ly c<strong>on</strong>ta<strong>in</strong>s<br />
<strong>in</strong>formati<strong>on</strong> about public youth work because of the difficulties <strong>in</strong>volved <strong>in</strong> do<strong>in</strong>g a survey <strong>on</strong><br />
voluntary organisati<strong>on</strong>s discussed earlier.<br />
