This section does not apply to an employee:<br />

a) who has a direct or indirect interest in the outcome <strong>of</strong> any<br />

proceedings, and who has not been subpoenaed; or<br />

b) who appears as an accused in any proceedings.<br />

6. Public Office Leave<br />

SICK LEAVE<br />

An employee shall be entitled to a leave <strong>of</strong> absence to seek nomination and<br />

election in accordance with Section 80 <strong>of</strong> The Labour Standards Act <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Province <strong>of</strong> Saskatchewan.<br />

1. Definition<br />

Sick leave is defined as a period <strong>of</strong> time an employee is absent from work with<br />

pay by virtue <strong>of</strong> personal illness, quarantine, disability or because <strong>of</strong> an accident<br />

for which compensation is not payable under The Workers’ Compensation Act,<br />

1979 or The Automobile Accident Insurance Act.<br />

2. Basic Entitlement<br />

Permanent and temporary employees shall be entitled to sick leave in the<br />

amount <strong>of</strong> two (2) days for each month worked. Sick leave days will be prorated<br />

for part-time employees.<br />

3. Accumulated Entitlement<br />

The unused portion <strong>of</strong> an employee’s annual sick leave shall accumulate to a<br />

maximum <strong>of</strong> one hundred and fifty (150) days.<br />

4. Pro<strong>of</strong> <strong>of</strong> Illness<br />

The Human Resource Manager may require the employee to provide a medical<br />

certificate where more than three (3) working days <strong>of</strong> illness are claimed<br />

pursuant to this section in a thirty (30) calendar day period. The Human<br />

Resource Manager may require a second medical certificate from a medical<br />

practitioner selected by the Human Resource Manager and at the expense <strong>of</strong> the<br />

Board.<br />
