RENT CONTROL PACKAGE
Introduction
The Rent Control Section deals with the cases relating to disputes between the
landlords and the tenants. When either of the parties disagree with the existing
rent structure, the matter comes under the purview of the Rent Controller. The
Rent Controller receives the rent amount from the tenant through challans and a
case is initiated at the Rent Controller Court. After dismissal of the case at the
Rent Controller Court, the accumulated rent amount is paid to the landlord.
As the huge number of challans deposited by the tenants every month were not
organized properly, the Cash Register could not be updated regularly. The
payment delivery process was in a mess and payments to the concerned landlords
could not be made even long after dismissal of the court cases.
Objective
The Rent Control package has been developed with the objective of computerizing
the process of rent deposit from the tenants and payment to the landlords through
the Rent Control Section. It keeps track of the entire amount received by the Rent
Controller on behalf of the landlords and payments made thereof to the
concerned landlords.
Outcome
Due to mismanagement in the Rent Control Section payments to the landlords
could not be made since 1995. With implementation of the package, rent deposit
challans could be organized and payments to the landlords could be started
thereby fulfilling a long time public demand for payment delivery.
Functionality
The broad functionalities covered by the Information System are :
Entry of Tenant Details
Entry of Challan Details deposited by Tenants
Generation of Intimation Card for delivery of payment to
the Landlords
Generation of Cash Ledger, Rent Deposit Report etc.
Implementation Status
Implemented successfully at the Rent Control Section during 2001 and the
package was effectively in use till 2003 after which it was discontinued by the
Department due to Departmental reasons.
