E-Governance at <strong>Howrah</strong><br />

<strong>Objective</strong><br />

COPIS has been developed with the aim to minimize the processing time in an<br />

effective manner for maintaining and disseminating information with regard to<br />

PROFLAL Accounts.<br />

Outcome<br />

The s<strong>of</strong>tware records and maintains up-to-date information <strong>of</strong> the PROFLAL<br />

Accounts. The interest acquired on the savings can be calculated as and when<br />

required and on a periodical basis for the benefit <strong>of</strong> the subscribers. We are also<br />

in a position to prepare and furnish Subscriber’s Slip in an effort to enable the<br />

subscribers to know the status <strong>of</strong> their savings and the amount credited in their<br />

favour immediately and effortlessly.<br />

The broad functional areas covered by the Information System are :<br />

Data Entry / Updation <strong>of</strong> PROFLAL Accounts using Form<br />

VIII and Form VIIA<br />

Master Entry <strong>of</strong> PROFLAL Accounts using Form IIB<br />

Scroll for next Financial Year<br />

Generation <strong>of</strong> Form VIII and Form IX<br />

<br />

Generation <strong>of</strong> Reports on Monthly Collection <strong>of</strong> a GP, Detailed<br />

Deposit <strong>of</strong> a Subscriber, List <strong>of</strong> Subscribers whose Payment is due etc.<br />

<br />

Recalculation in case <strong>of</strong> backlog / missing / wrong entries<br />

Implementation Status<br />

Version 1.1 <strong>of</strong> the s<strong>of</strong>tware implemented during 2005 at the Block level at twelve<br />

Block Development Offices (BDOs) <strong>of</strong> the <strong>District</strong> viz., BDO Amta-I, BDO Amta-<br />

II, BDO Bagnan-I, BDO Bagnan-II, BDO Uluberia-I, BDO Uluberia-II, BDO<br />

Shyampur-I, BDO Shyampur-II, BDO Panchla, BDO Sankrail, BDO<br />

Jagatballavpur and BDO Udaynarayanpur. The revised version i.e., Version 2.0<br />

<strong>of</strong> the s<strong>of</strong>tware is under implementation at these Offices.<br />

Technical Specification<br />

Development Platform : Windows 98, Visual Basic 6.0, MS Access 2000.<br />

Post Developmental / Post Implementation Role <strong>of</strong> NIC<br />

NIC is maintaining the s<strong>of</strong>tware and also improving upon the s<strong>of</strong>tware to suit the Scheme<br />

best. Regular training programmes are being conducted for the <strong>Official</strong>s <strong>of</strong> twelve Block<br />

Development Offices <strong>of</strong> the <strong>District</strong>.<br />
