The Descendants of Chief William McIntosh Jr. is now in book form. 

This is a must have set if you are into McIntosh genealogy. An up to date listing of the 

descendants of Chief William McIntosh, Jr. from the original works of Harriet Turner 

(Porter) Corbin. I believe you will be thrilled with this book. 

The Descendants of Chief William McIntosh Jr. book is in two 8 ½ x 11 volumes with 

each volume having 300 pages printed both sides. 

I extracted pages 110 thru 134 for you to view the descendant style, and pages 578-582 to 

view the index. The pictures in the book are in b&w due to printing cost. The front cover 

is soft clear plastic, the back cover is soft solid black plastic, and the book is bound with a 

plastic ring binding.

H. Jr. (Chief) 1 ) was born on 4/16/1882, died in 1964, at 

age 82, and was buried near Vinita, OK. 

General Notes: She was known to my generation as 

"Nanny Noco." To my mom and her siblings, she was 

known as "Mawsy." She died sometime in 1964 and 

spent her last years in Vinita, OK. I do remember her 

as I was 4 when she died. She is buried in a cemetery 

outside Vinita. by John P. Stefanek

75. Kaniah McIntosh (Daniel Newnan 13 , William H. 

Jr. (Chief) 1 ) was born on 9/26/1892, died on 10/11/1989, 

at age 97, and was buried in Ft. Gibson National Cemetery. 

General Notes: Kaniah's actual name was Zolena 

Kaniah McIntosh. Kaniah was named after her oldest 

sister. Belle was pregnant when Zolena died, 6 

months prior to Kaniah's birth, morning the loss of her 

precious Zolena, Bell named the child Zolena in her 

honor. Kaniah however, did not like the name Zolena, 

she wished only to be known as Kaniah McIntosh. 

Out of respect for her wishes, her name is listed here 

as "Kaniah McIntosh."

Kaniah was married to Charles W. Boteler and lived in 

Muskogee. He is buried in the military cemetery at Ft 

Kaniah (McIntosh) Boteler 

Gibson as he was a vet of WW I. When Kaniah 

passed away, about l988 or so, she was buried on top 

of his casket which the government is doing these days to conserve space. At the time of 

her death, I took Dad to her daughters house in Muskogee. That is Betty Whitehorn, and 

there met Betty's son Kenneth and Kenneth's only child, a daughter whom they named 

Kaniah. She was about l5 at the time. Ken and daughter live out west. Many times when 

taking Dad to Checotah, we stopped in Muskogee to visit Kaniah in a rest home/care 

center. She was 6 months older than Dad and he always referred to her as Aunt Kaniah. It 

has been years since I have been to the Fame cemetery where Daniel is buried with some 

of the children of he and Emma. It is logical to assume when the 8th child, Kaniah was 

born, they named her Zolena also in honor of the beautiful child who died about age l6.

Hawkins and Rhoda (Bean) Hawkins. He married Elizabeth Hawkins Sept. 29, 

1941 at Fans, OK and died Wednesday April 26, 2000 at South Crest Hospital 

Tulsa. Services were April 28, at Little Coweta Baptist Church, Lenna, OK 

followed by burial at the family cemetery, Hawkins?McIntosh, Lenna, OK under 

the direction of Meritt Funeral Service, Eufaula. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, four sisters, Annie Buck, Susie 

Givens, Maybell Skaggs, Dollie Boyd and one brother, Bud Hawkins. 

Survivors include his wife, five sons, Andrew Hawkins Jr. of Quitman, TX, Gary 

Hawkins of Shawnee, Ronnie Hawkins of Eufaula, Danny Hawkins and Eufene 

Hawkings both of Stidham; two daughters, Brenda Earls of Eufaula, Glenda 

Welty of Oklahoma City; a sister, Grace Overman of Eufaula; 10 grandchildren; 

four great-grandhcildren- and numerous nieces and nephews.

General Notes: Alexander McIntosh, Creek. Was born June 3, 1860, the son of John 

McIntosh of Broken Arrow. He was a voter at Eufaula in 1883, a member of the House 

of Warriors from Eufaula Canadian from 1887-1893, was a voter and clerk at Eufaula 

Canadian in 1894, and was a resident of Hitchita in 1900. He was the father of Solomon 

(1887), Newnan (1889), Cora (1891), Lucy (1894-1957), and William (1896). 

Alexander McIntosh was born in the Creek Nation June 3, 1860, and is a 

representative of one of the prominent families here. His father, John McIntosh, 

now a resident of Eufaula, is a nephew of General William McIntosh, who for 

several terms served as Chief of the Creek Nation. The mother of our subject, 

who bore the maiden name of Sarah Watson, is now deceased. Alexander McIntosh, 

the subject of this review, obtained his preliminary education at Asbury Mission 

in the Creek Nation. After leaving school he worked for his father for two years 

on the home farm and then went to Okmulgee, where he entered the employ of Major 

F. L. Cramer, a general merchant, with whom he remained for one year. On the 

expiration of that period he was elected Interpreter of the house of kings and 

served for one term of four years. In 1887 he was elected to represent his

district in the house of warriors from Eufaula, Canadian township. Having served 

four years in a most commendable manner, he was re-elected and when he had 

filled that position for two additional years he was chosen District Judge of 

the Muskogee District. He capably served in that capacity for three years, when 

he resigned on account of ill health. Subsequently, however, he was again chosen 

by popular vote Interpreter of the house of kings, filling the office until 

April 5, 1898, on which date he was appointed Superintendent of Public 

Instruction by Chief Isparhecher. In October of the same year he was elected to 

that position, which he has since filled with credit to himself and satisfaction 

his constituents. 

On the 7th of March, 1885, Mr. McIntosh was united in marriage to Miss Martha 

Bowson, a daughter of Boney Bowson, of Eufaula, They have now five hildren: 

Solomon, Newman and Cora, who are students of the Eufaula High School; and Lucy 

and William, who are attending the Hickite School. Mr. McIntosh has never sought 

public office, his honors coming to him entirely unsolicited. He is, however, 

well fitted for leadership and his fellow townsmen, recognizing his ability, 

have called him to serve them in positions of public trust. In religious faith 

he is a Baptist, holding membership in the church about eight miles west of 

Eufaula and known as the Big Arbor Church.
