to Therry’s chances, Leith Wallis amongst the best
for Bulleen Temp with four goals who were well led
by skipper Matthew Costa, who also scored two

Camberwell. It rained goals after quarter time as the
‘Fields fired a warning shot across the competition
bow.
At the Trott, Ormond tipped Collegians by ten goals
in a strong performance across the four quarters.
The margin at Mentone Playing fields was even
bigger, as Hampton Rovers were on the wrong end
of a 1300 point hiding. Old Mentonians had ten
goals from Dustan Mills.
Another big margin still at TH King, where St Kev’s
accounted easily for Old Haileybury, leading all the
way.
At HQ, Oakleigh beat AJAX by two points in a
nailbiter. The Jackers surrendered their early lead
only in the final term, with the Krushers proving
again the only surplus that counts is the one at the
final siren.
In South 2, Beaumaris beat the Pirates after
setting up a solid lead early and maintaining their
performance throughout.
Monash Blues sent Old Geelong to home defeat at
Como, routing the hoops with precision and power.
St Mary’s Salesian had a tight tussle with Melbourne
High, but emerged victors after a strong second
half.
The Nodders came from behind to defeat Old
Xaverians by three points, which spoiled the Red
and Blacks otherwise perfect six-from-six Opening
Day.
