Well its over for another year and those that
partied on, we hope the trains from Southern
Cross Station had commenced running for the
trip home.

We had a fantastic guest speaker in Trisha Silvers
(Broadbridge) who had the room captivated
with the heart-wrenching video and story of the
tragic tsunami that claimed her husband Troy in
2004. This young lady’s courage and dedication
to the Reach Foundation and the re-building of
Phi Phi Island was an absolute inspiration.

Well done to MC Russell Davidson and
especially to Luke Holmes for a fantastic and
entertaining visual display on the big screens all
night. We look forward to this huge event every
year and it just keeps on getting better.
MILESTONE
Celebrated just recently was the 100 th VAFA
game for Cam Davidson, who being younger,
taller and much better looking (right Cam?)
over-shadows his older brother Russell. With his
relaxed style, Cam never takes life too seriously,
unless he’s head to head in poker. Well done on
your milestone (Cam, we kept it clean and nice
so as not to upset your mother!!!)
WHERE IS YOUR HEAD?
Brendan Hoornweg travelled a few kilometres
recently which we think might have been a
touch too much. Brendan, who lives in Box
Hill, travelled to Elsternwick to pick his partner
up (Evo) and then proceeded down Nepean
Highway in the direction of Mentone. Evo
questioned his direction skills and then told him
that we are umpiring at Bulleen-Templestowe
who are playing Old Mentonians. A quick round
trip finally got the boys to the right ground on
time, but in Brendan’s haste he forgot his shorts.
We must thank Bulleen-Temp who came to the
rescue with a pair of blue shorts. Two things you
need to do Brendan, always carry a spare pair
of shorts and of course read your appointment
thoroughly.
SPEAKING OF SHORTS
Our new gear sponsor in ORCA, have nice shorts
with only the one draw-back (for some) being
the location of the pocket. This location tends
to gather sweat and makes it difficult in keeping
your paper for reporting dry. Ryan Robertson
has come up with an innovative way of getting
around that, by not using paper, but by writing on
his thigh. Does he have to shave a special little
square into those very hairy legs every Saturday
morning? Let’s hope chaffing doesn’t rub off the
numbers Ryan.
