I. Executive Summary
The academic year 2011/2012 was dynamic
and productive for the Petroleum Institute
Libraries. The Library, incorporated into
Academic Affairs, has continued to respond
proactively to organizational and leadership
changes. This year, for example, marked the
first full academic year of the integration
of Independent Learning Center within the
Library Department.
Recently appointed
Head Librarian,
Vanessa Middleton
and Janet Olearski,
Coordinator of
the Independent
Learning Center,
worked together
to align their
respective goals objectives and services to
streamline their services for the PI community.
II. Department Mission and
Program Goals
The Petroleum Institute Libraries’ vision is to
create a national asset by harnessing
the power of information/knowledge to
contribute to the development of UAE
society. Petroleum Institute Libraries strive to
be an integral partner in innovative
research, knowledge discovery and scholarly
activities.
The libraries provide a learning environment
for scholars to access and utilize academic
and industry resources and to develop lifelong
learning skills.
