This was marketed through advertisements in three national newspapers and via SMS and emails to registered students. The Admissions team visited the top 16 male and 15 female schools in Abu Dhabi and distributed pens with invitations to the Open Day. We anticipated a bigger crowd this year so Open Day 2012 was held in the Asab building with a more professional-looking arrangement than in previous years. Male and female PI students were appointed as Student Ambassadors to support the event. Visitors were taken on bus tours around the campus and were greeted with gift packs. The first 100 students received additional early bird gifts. 82
A year of transformation, growth and success The Admissions Department had organized displays and demonstrations which included manned information booths representing Engineering departments, Student Chapters, the College of Arts & Sciences, the Advanced University Preparation (AUP) Department, Women in Science and Engineering (WISE), the Library, the Independent Learning Centre (ILC) and the Student Affairs Department. An hourly laboratory and campus tour was also conducted. The Open Day garnered 208 registered students with a total attendance of around 500 visitors: a 92% increase in attendance over previous years. III. Summary With several new universities emerging in the market together with attractive scholarship opportunities, the recruitment of suitable students is becoming a challenge. However, in the past year our team has expanded its recruitment activities and has achieved improved results and new records. Structural Changes o Ibtesam Al Hammadi has been appointed Student Recruitment Coordinator. o Iman Al Hosani has been appointed Admissions Assistant. o Ahmed Ali Suliman and Niyaz Anjum have been appointed Admissions Officers. 83
