I. What is the GRC?
The establishment of the Gas Processing
and Material Science Research Centre (the
GRC) was officially launched at the PI in
December 2010. The Centre is the outcome of
an R&D agreement among GASCO, ADNOC,
Shell Abu Dhabi B.V., Total S.A., and Partex
Gas Corporation. The GRC is owned by and
integrated into the PI and funding is raised
through contributions over a period of 20
years at the rate of USD 5 million annually
from the three international shareholders:
Shell, Total and Partex.
II. Vision and Mission of GRC
Vision
Develop, build and strengthen the Petroleum
Institute’s applied research capabilities and
GASCO’s technological know-how in order to
address current and emerging gas challenges
and to promote the safe and efficient operation
of GASCO.
Mission
Make the GRC a fully operational Centre of
Excellence embedded within the ADNOC PI
Research Centre (PIRC) by:
• Providing leading technology/research
solutions through the deployment of
applied research & technology.
• Leveraging the experience and
technological know-how of the
international shareholders.
• Developing the PI’s research and technical
service capabilities in gas.
• Focusing on the career development of
national faculty and researchers.
• Attracting distinguished (chair) professors,
world class researchers and students to
the PI.
