The PI will work closely with OPCOs in
identifying key experts to work on specific
R&D projects at the PI on a part-time basis
to help the PI develop R&D capability and
capacity as soon as possible.

Properties, Patents and Intellectual Talents.

of the country’s oil and gas: increasing
reserves through high recovery factors.

Productivity and Sustainability – by
increasing the country’s oil and gas
production capacity and sustaining
it through improved and enhanced
technology and process efficiency.
Add value to the PI:

Academic Recognition and Excellence –
recognition of its ability to create stateof-the–art
undergraduate and graduate
programs.

Academic Attractiveness – making the PI
the flagship of R&D in the region in order
to attract the best students and faculty.

Research Center of Excellence: Improving
the PI’s prospects to be a worldwide
destination for cutting-edge oil and gas
research.
IV. Summary
We started the journey of building the PI’s R&D
capability and capacity in January 2012 and
looking back, the PI has done an outstanding
job of creating the structure for a new PI
Research and Development organization. We
now have a clearly defined Strategy, Vision and
Mission and a set of critical Values for the PIRC.
We also have a set of guidelines from ADNOC
on how to proceed in directing the future of
this organization, so that we can deliver the
best technologies of the future for our nation.
Our main challenge for the remainder of this
year is to finalize the PIRC organization Master
Plan (structure, positions and job descriptions,
etc.) and to write a 5-year business plan.
