I. Executive Summary
• A Memorandum of Understanding
(MOU) was signed with Stevens
Institute of Technology to evaluate all
the academic programs at the PI and to
suggest ways to improve them.
• An MOU was signed with EMERSON.
• We engaged the University of Maryland
to facilitate the PI’s Strategic Plan.
• We engaged the Colorado School of
Mines to assist in creating the Office of
Research at the PI by sharing insights
on ways of conducting day-to-day
business and functionality.
II. Department Mission and
Program Goals
Mission
The National and International Collaboration
Office (NIC) works closely with the Acting
President and Provost to facilitate, negotiate,
establish and manage links with local
and foreign universities, companies and
government units in areas of interest to PI
and its major sponsor, the Abu Dhabi National
Oil Company (ADNOC) through education,
research, and exchange programs.
Overview
The NIC was established in April 2011 to assist
PI in its collaborations with partner universities,
institutions, companies, foundations,
and government agencies. The primary
responsibilities of the office include drafting,
negotiating, and processing and managing
formal agreements and memorandum of
understanding (MOU) between the PI and
its partners that are related to education,
research and exchange programs. It also
maintains a database of current and pending
international agreements, as well as an archive
