The idea that one individual ran <strong>the</strong> Bank <strong>of</strong> England to<br />

suit himself, with no influences, is too ridiculous to be<br />

considered. What about <strong>the</strong> Rothschilds? What about <strong>the</strong><br />

o<strong>the</strong>r shareholders? Carroll Quigley, in "Tragedy and<br />

Hope" notes that: "M. Norman said, 'I hold <strong>the</strong> hegemony<br />

<strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> currency.' -- He is called <strong>the</strong> currency dictator <strong>of</strong><br />

Europe."<br />

Lionel Fraser <strong>of</strong> J. Henry Schroder Wagg notes in his<br />

autobiography, "All to <strong>the</strong> Good", that he was in charge<br />

<strong>of</strong> Lord Norman's personal investments. He also notes <strong>of</strong><br />

<strong>the</strong> firm <strong>of</strong> Helbert Wagg, former jewelers from<br />

Halberstadt and now a London banking house (later J.<br />

Henry Schroder Wagg), "The firm was <strong>of</strong>ficial brokers on<br />

Stock Exchange to <strong>the</strong> great and all powerful House <strong>of</strong><br />

Rothschild." Both Wagg and Schroder had been in<br />

business in London for 159 years when <strong>the</strong>y merged in<br />

1960. Ano<strong>the</strong>r writer notes that Lord Norman frequently<br />

consulted with J.P. Morgan before making his Bank <strong>of</strong><br />

England decisions.<br />

Gordon Richardson, chairman <strong>of</strong> J. Henry Schroder from<br />

1962-72, <strong>the</strong>n became Governor <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Bank <strong>of</strong> England<br />

from 1972-83, when he was succeeded by Robert Leigh-<br />

Pemberton, chairman <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> National Westminister Bank,<br />

also director <strong>of</strong> Equitable -- he married into <strong>the</strong> Cecil-<br />

Burghley family.<br />
