because it was only ten miles from Woburn Abbey,<br />

where Lord Beaverbrook's agent, Sefton Delmer,<br />

operated <strong>the</strong> British "dirty tricks" center and o<strong>the</strong>r<br />

propaganda activities. Woburn Abbey was <strong>the</strong> ancestral<br />

home <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Duke <strong>of</strong> Bedford, Marquess <strong>of</strong> Tavistock.<br />

The British Bureau <strong>of</strong> Psychological, Warfare operated<br />

as <strong>the</strong> Tavistock Institute.<br />

The membership list <strong>of</strong> CFR members in 1946 reveals<br />
