<strong>NavAid</strong> <strong>Controller</strong><br />
Control System<br />
• Control and monitoring for all components of the navigation light system used for marking offshore<br />
wind farms as obstacles to shipping:<br />
5 nautical mile lanterns, close-range marking, additional structure marking<br />
• Monitoring of the power supply and battery status of the <strong>NavAid</strong> UPS 24 V DC integrated into the<br />
system<br />
• Communication via IEC 61850 or MODBUS TCP protocol for monitoring and remote control of navigation<br />
light components<br />
• Embedded web server for settings, software update and diagnostics of the navigation light system<br />
The Sabik <strong>NavAid</strong> <strong>Controller</strong> is part of the control and monitoring system for the marking of offshore wind<br />
farms. The steel plate housing of the controller is designed for indoor wall mounting. The remote access unit of<br />
type Sabik LightGuard Gateway is integrated into the housing. Depending on type and intended use, additionally<br />
components of the LightGuard Bus systems, LightGuard Bus IM-01 and LightGuard Bus LCM-01 are integrated<br />
into the housing.<br />
Mode of operation<br />
The <strong>NavAid</strong> controller system is used for controlling and monitoring of illuminating and marking components on<br />
offshore structures.<br />
Special features<br />
• Activation and generation of the flash code for all of the attached 5 nautical miles lanterns<br />
• Activation and generation of an intensity control signal for spotlights<br />
• Current consumption monitoring for all components of the navigation light system, as well as error<br />
detection and reporting<br />
The <strong>NavAid</strong> <strong>Controller</strong> is provided with two network connectors: LAN#1 und LAN#2.<br />

Via LAN#1 the <strong>NavAid</strong> system is connected to the SCADA system, so that all important information can be<br />
retrieved via IEC 61850 or MODBUS TCP.<br />
LAN#2 is the service connector for update and diagnostics, so that service effort in terms of on-site operation<br />
can be kept as low as possible.<br />
The LightGuard Gateway communicates via TCP/IP with the control centre, receives control commands from<br />
the same and provides status information of the individual components.<br />
As required and depending on the <strong>NavAid</strong> controller type, one or two Light Control Modules are used for current<br />
consumption monitoring of the 5 nautical mile lanterns and spotlights and for spotlight brightness control.<br />
