RISD students regularly seek internships, educationally-based experiences,
that enable them to work alongside established artists, designers and creative
professionals who serve as mentors and assist them with learning new skills
and techniques. Internships compliment the RISD academic experience and
enable students to apply their education to the professional world while
providing exposure to professionals and their networks. Employers who
hire RISD interns acquire first-hand knowledge of their individual skill sets,
talents and capabilities and gain knowledge of those who are a good fit for the
company for full-time, part-time and freelance opportunities after graduation.

Campus Tours and Meetings:
Meet with Department Heads + Key Faculty
The Career Center works with select employers to coordinate meetings
and tours of academic departments at RISD. These experiences provide an
opportunity to learn in detail about departments and their curriculum first
hand, engage with our award-winning faculty, visit studio facilities and
witness student work in process. Arrangements can be made to include
a tour of selected student galleries, the RISD Museum of Art, and the
Edna Lawrence Nature Lab.
Each spring, graduate students, seniors,
and juniors meet with more than 200
diverse companies and organizations,
from a wide range of disciplines to get
immediate feedback on their portfolio
and presentation skills. Take advantage
of this opportunity to experience RISD
talent first hand. The interaction between
students and reviewers enables students
to further develop their interview skills
and to network professionally for
upcoming jobs, internships, and
opportunities. Companies gain immediate
insights to students and their work, the
type of talent students possess and
the potential match of students to the
upcoming hiring needs of the company.
In addition RISD Career Center staff will
work with selected companies to set up
on-campus recruiting schedules in order
to meet your hiring needs.

Seeking an opportunity to view the portfolios of RISD students and alumni from your
laptop or iPhone? Have a need to identify talent immediately? Just browsing to see
what sets RISD apart from the rest?
At portfolios.risd.edu you can discover the depth and breadth of RISD talent, with our
customized creative network.
The Guest Artist/Designer is an emerging program at RISD that will
provide the chance for selected artists and designers to share their expertise in
an educationally based workshop series for students. Workshops may take place
during the RISD Wintersession (January through mid-February) or in the summer
and could include: introductory instruction on critical skill sets relevant to applying
for internships or jobs in their field; hands on demonstrations and tutorials that
provide exposure to new techniques; materials and/or software; and in-depth
portfolio reviews with individual students who seek to enter the field. As an

Fleet Library, the RISD Museum and their special collections as well as
