4. No fill coat is necessary on interior angles.
F. Finishing
1. After topping compound is set, a finished coat of topping compound shall be spread evenly over and extending
slightly over the fill coat on joints and feathered to a smooth, uniform finish over tapered edges.
2. The finished joint shall not protrude beyond the plane of the surface.
3. Taped angles shall receive a finish coat to cover the tape and taping compound, and provide a true angle.
4. Where necessary, sanding shall be done between coats and following the final applications of compound
to provide a smooth surface, ready for decoration.
G. Taping compound shall be applied to fastener depressions followed, when hardened, by at least two coats of
topping compound, leaving depressions level with the plane of the surface.
H. Taping compound shall be applied to bead and trim and shall be feathered out from the ground to the plane of
the surface. When hardened, this shall be followed by two coats of topping compound each extending slightly
beyond the previous coat. The finish coat shall be feathered from the ground to the plane of the surface and
sanded as necessary to provide a flat, smooth surface ready for decoration.
I. Sand finish work to a smooth surface, true and plane.
3.03 SHEATHING
A. Provide Dens-Glass Gold sheathing where indicated on drawings. Install sheathing in accordance with
manufacturer’s instructions and applicable instructions in GA-253 and ASTM C 1280.
B. Install Dens-Glass Gold sheathing with gold side out.
C. Use maximum lengths possible to minimize number of joints.
D. Wood framing: Attach Dens-Glass Gold sheathing to wood framing with nails spaced 4” o.c. at perimeter for
racking shear resistance; 8” o.c. at perimeter where there are framing supports and where racking shear
resistance is not required; and 8” o.c. along intermediate framing in field for both conditions.
E. Metal framing: Attach Dens-Glass Gold sheathing to metal frmaing with screws spaced 8” o.c. at perimeter
where there are framing supports; and 8” o.c. along intermediate framing in field.
F. Drive fasteners to bear tight against and flush with surface of sheathing. Do not countersink.
G. Locate fasteners minimum K’ from edges and ends of sheathing panels.
H. Building paper: If required, install building paper or equal with flashing around openings.
I. Finishing:
1. Seal fasteners using Dow Corning 795 or Borden HPPG Elmers Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk or
equilavent.
2. Finish joints using Dow Corning 795 or Borden HPPG Elmers Siliconized Acrylic Latex Caulk or
equilavent. Reinforce with 2” wide 10x10 glass mesh Quick Tape or equilavent.
3.04 CLEANING AND PATCHING
A. Refer to Section 01710 - Cleaning.
B. Clean exposed drywall surfaces free of soil and stain that would affect finish.
C. Repair, or remove and replace defective work.
